In the past I've said to produce like a number 1 receiver a player has to be feed like a number 1. Meaning you need targets to get receptions and yards. For example last season Jarvis Landry had 1 game in which he had less that 7 targets and none with less than 6. Receivers who get 7 targets per game need to produce. So looking at Parker's 2016 and 2017 seasons he had 15 games where he had 7 targets or more. His 15 game totals of 134 targets, 85 receptions and 1060 yards isn't bad. Could be a little better but not bad. If he averaged those numbers for 16 games that would be 143 targets 91 receptions and 1130 yards.
If Parker could reach the 134 -143 target, 85-91 reception and 1060-1130 yard range in 2018 he would be in the ball park of these 2017 receivers:
AJ Green 145 targets 75 receptions 1078 yards
Adam Thielen 143 targets 91 receptions 1276
DeMaryius Thomas 141 targets 83 receptions 949 yards
Mike Evans 135 targets 71 receptions 1001 yards.
I'm not saying Parker is as good as Green, Thomas or Evans, but I am saying if he stays healthy and gets a decent number of targets he could produce similar numbers. With Landry gone Parker has an opportunity to lift his production. If stays healthy I think it could be a big year for him. Of course if he doesn't stay healthy he's going to have to really flash bright in the games he does play in.
Looking beyond the numbers there were missed plays in 2016 and 2017 that Parker and whichever qb he was playing with Tannehill, Moore or Cutler needed to clean up a little bit that could have easily been made. Of course the negative plays need to be reduced on Parker's part as well.
