Dolphins WR DeVante Parker had foot surgery today. Was told he had a screw in his foot that was replaced. Should be good for opener.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker had foot surgery this morning at Doctor's Hospital in Coral Gables.

He will not participate in the team's minicamp but will be ready for the start of the regular season, per a team source. So breathe. Calm down. It will be OK.

Parker, the first-round pick in the 2015 draft, had the procedure as a precaution. I am told if this was the regular season, he would be playing this week.

But because Parker has been so impressive since joining the team and the plan with him is to be a long-term help rather than a short-term bridge, the club is being cautious to address what I am told is not a big issue now so as to not affect the season.

Obviously, Parker missing the rest of the offseason will set him back a bit on the field. He will, however, be involved in rehabilitation and team meetings.

I had major issues with Parker's ability to get off of jams and most of all his durability. Unfortunately, we are seeing the latter.

However, I will wait to see what the details before piling on.

Looks like it was a minor procedure:

Surgery for DeVante Parker

This means veteran Greg Jennings, signed late in free agency, will likely play a major role in the offense, along with Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills early in the season as Parker works in.

Still more time he is not working. I am tired of early picks being hurt and not practicing. See Jordan. See Taylor.

He will fall behind the other receivers come August because of the time missed here.

Always the ray of sunshine aren't you?

Dude, calm down it was "precautionary" surgery. Has he shown anything in the OTA's to suggest he's not going to be able to play?!?!?!? NO

Parker missed first 7 games in 2014 with foot injury, stormed back in Louisville's final 6: 43 receptions, 855 yards, 5 TDs.

Calm down? Who is freaking out? Its certainly news that our first round pick had foot surgery..

I hate feet injuries. If Mando is correct it does look it could help him longterm so this appears to be a wise move.
