Devin Hester: Will Switch to Offense

makes a lot of sense. There's too much potential fire power with that guy to not utilize him on offense. Far more upside than him as a CB.

How are his receiving skills? Good enough to say Steve Smith the second?

Receiving I mean route running, blocking (pretty weak here I guess), but the entire package, not just catching ability.

No.

The guy wasn't smart enough to play offense at UM, when we did use him on offense it was for very very basic plays.

Screen passes, line him up at HB and toss him the ball, etc.

I don't think the guy is going to do much more on offense in the NFL, though he might because he IS talented.

Well, I guess he's a project at this point. Even if they streak him every play, he will pull a safety with him. If not, Grossman "attempts " to hit him for the td.

Kind of like our Ginn, but we all know Ginn's potential as a WR is much better than Hester's.

Project/Potential Sounds like an ESPN analysis! Seriously though, this could be great or a total bust for them.

Hester will be doing basic plays for the Bears.

Mainly reverses, screen passes, and Fly routes. Nothing else.

I'm surprised they didn't do this half way through the season last year

Bears | Hester works well with offense

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester worked well at wide receiver during the team's minicamp. Hester split out wide, lined up in the slot and in the backfield at times. He caught every pass thrown to him during individual drills and was impressive during seven-on-seven drills and 11-on-11 drills.
