Found this little report today.............

Dice-K in first brew ha-ha
Here's a nugget that has been lost in all of the hoopla surrounding new Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka:

Matsuzaka --- Dice-K to Red Sox Nation --- made a beer commercial in his native Japan and is shown drinking the product. According to at least one news report, the United States Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau is contemplating taking legal action against Matsuzaka because it's illegal in the U.S. to consume alcohol in a commercial.

I guess the U.S. government is concerned because Matsuzaka is wearing a Red Sox uniform in the commercial.

Anyway, here's the commercial. Thanks to colleague Steve Carlic for the link and the crafty headline of this blog.
 
Stupid that you cant drink bear in a commercial and it's stupid that the gov't would think about doing anything about a commercial he did in Japan.
 
Yeah I don't get this one at all. Maybe I'm not getting this but apparently the US government is mad at Matsuzaka because he did a Japanese commerical for the country of Japan and what he did in it is illegal in the US?

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkk. Moving on.
 
Hey Mike, do you have a link to this story? I went on ESPN and couldn't find it. I'd like to read up on this.
 
That's ghey that you can't be shown drinking a beer in an ad.....what else are you going to do with it besides drink it? The ATF has some real issues.
 
I already knew you couldn't drink beer in a commercial in the U.S. but I still don't get why it has anything to do with the U.S. if the commercial is show in Japan. The guy pitches for the Red Sox what uniform is he supposed to wear? This story seems like a non-issue. Even if their are repercussions, it's not going to effect him on the mound!

I couldn't agree more. This just doesn't make any sense what so ever.
 
just because david wells is gone, the sox pick up daisuke? yep, they love their beer in boston. :)

The US gv'ment is against outsourcing and Dice-K just took away an American job so they want to go after him......:sidelol: :sidelol:
