Well I was at work and my wife told me that my new Sports Illustrated came in. The first thing I did was grab it and head to the toilet. There wasnt an article or a pic from this weeks Fin-Pats game. Its like noone wants to talk about how we stomped them. Well I am officially canceling my subscription.:shakeno:

Let me put your mind at ease. You have to think of sports writers as complete idiots, especially national sports writers. They usually have less knowledge of individual teams than fans do. The stories and ideas for write-ups come from sources outside of the paper or magazine.

After last week, their perception of what kind of team Miami is completely contrary to what they thought they knew. When you throw in New England into the mix it confuses and angers them because they start to realize how little they know about sports in general.

It just takes time for sports writers to be told what is really going on in the NFL.

In other words by they start telling the world we are really good, we might be starting our decline again.

umm ESPN spent 99% of Sportscenter on Sunday and all day on Monday talking about how Miami destroyed New England.

but i guess if you want to imagine that the media refuses to talk about the game, then you go right ahead and do that.

Im sorry but sports writers aren't mentally challenged or disconnected. Its so ridiculous how sports writers are portrayed because they don't say anything good about your team. And when they do, like this past week on espn, everybody loves them.

Hell, people even watched JIM ROME cause he said something positive about Miami.

Most sports writers earned their jobs through meeting horrible deadlines and watching and covering terrible sports teams for years. Then they get lucky enough to write for a national magazine and everyone hates them because they don't know EVERYTHING. Why would a sports writer know more about the miami dolphins then a miami dolphins fan? Thats not his job. His job is to cover all 32 teams generally and write what he believes. That goes against most fans beliefs, so their hated. But that doesn't make them idiots.

all very true.

Would you guys just get over the fact that not alot people talk about the Dolphins. Do you think that there is nothing better than other people talking good about your team? There are other things that are more important with the Dolphins than the lack of media exposure. Its like the only reason some people are fans is that that they get to one up someone else by saying "well did you hear so-and-so, they said we have and underrated team." There are worse things that can happen than people not talking about you or the things you like.

When we think about the Lions, what do we think?? Horrible franchise, won 1 playoff game in 50 years. The only people interested in coverage are Lions fans. They will soon have a GM and may start rebuilding but like us, it will take time. Still, no one outside of Detroit is interested.

Now, substitute Detroit with Miami. No one outside of us wants to see the Dolphins. We only received this much coverage this week because we beat the Pats who are huge news right now. When we got beat down by the Cards, minimal coverage. When we play the Chargers the coverage will focus on the them. Now if we beat the Chargers..............................................

Actually idiots is a harsh word but sometimes emotions can force you to knock it up a notch. Especially when for every national sportwriter that can nail a story i can name 3 that makes complete fools of themselves by spouting their out of touch opinions. For instance head over to NFL.com and check out the power polls, read their little comments, breathe it in a bit.

If I want to know something about the dolphins I have a better chance of finding out what i need to know here than i do looking for some wacked out words of wisdom from SOME of these self-proclaimed experts.

Please note the disclaimers of SOME and MOST
I do not claim EVERYONE is out of the loop

Wow...this thread went way different than the way I was thinking. Ok lets me put this out there...The Fins and Pats game was Football, correct? Football is a sport, coorect? S.I. is a sports magazine, correct? I'm not saying we should have been front cover....but atleast an article or pics or something. We did stomp one of the most powerful NFL franchises in the league. Even if the article was about the collapse of the once mighty PATs and happen to mention the Fins that would have been something. I mean we had a runningback run for 4 TDs and throw for one, the last time that was done was in 1923 by the Cardinals. That does deserve some recognition. Now once again I am not saying a whole page dedicated to the Fins we are not a powerhouse (YET). But there should have been something.

Well...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if memory serves, the last time SI did a feature on us ... ehhh, wasn't it about "Nick Saban and the re-emergence..."

I don't think that I'll be up nights thinking about the lack of coverage our Dolphins receive from SI at this point in time.

Now, that being said ...

... a pic or two would have been nice.

SI had us going to the SB a few seasons ago! Ahh what a long way weve come.

Ha. I canceled mine the week after our undefeated season. After an accomplishment as great as a perfect season they didn't give our Phins the respect I thought they should have. I have not cracked the pages of a Sports Illustrated Mag. since 1973!

Absolutely agree with you. I mean hell it was the 1923 CHICAGO Cardinals that last did that. I mean come on just give us a little article. That's all we are asking.
