...A coupe of days ago I heard Joe Theisman on the radio on The 'Mike and the Mad dog show' in N.Y., I think it's a national show now, but maybe not.(well now it's just 'Mike' since Mad dog just left)(Thank God). Now I know Theisman usually comes off seeming as intelligent as a 5 year old on Zoloft, but he was talking about how he hates the Favre to the Jets move. He was saying how the Jets are using him and putting him on display and using him for publicity etc... he was saying how he thought that was disgusting.(I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist.) He went on to say how he thinks it's going to turn out to be disastrous and that he can't be in shape and he should have decided earlier in order to get ready and that the Jets are going to have to go to the Superbowl in order for him to succeed, etc....and then...what was funny is that he then said that going to Miami in the first week is going to also be a disaster, with the heat and him not being in shape, etc.....Mike Francesca whole heartedly agreed and said how the beginning of the Jets schedule is going to be real tough. He said..."they have to go to Miami, San Diego then New England", I believe it was. He said those are going to be "tough games"....

I thought the respect was kind of cool and unusual, which leads me to what I heard next....

On the 'Michael Kay show' on ESPN radio today they were playing more of that same Theisman clip. The other guy with Michael was a football player or coach, I believe, I forget, but they both went on to say after how they think the Miami game is going to be tougher than people think. He went on to say how Miami has a totally new regime from Parcells to the coaches to most of the players, new QB, etc.... He says he has a strong feeling The Dolphins are going to surprise people and could be very good this year. He then said, which I loved, is that the Jets could be "heading into a hornets nest down in Miami in week one"...

Most know how I feel about most of the sports media, but I just thought it was kind of cool how there's buzz on us floating around from different sources now, that we may surprise people this year and be pretty good. We all know how we usually get ripped or ignored by the media, so I'll take anything.....

Just sharing some info. Sorry if something was posted on this.

I am actually pretty happy Favre went to the jets. I am betting that he breaks the all time fumble record by week 4- its fitting he holds the interception AND fumble record together. And it makes me happy he will break it while with the jets

Theisman is the last person I would get my information or trust with a soggy noodle much less football opinions.

With Pennington at the helm for us and Favre at the helm for the Jets, the Week One game is very winnable. If Porter or someone else can keep pressure on him, Favre will be sucking air through a breathing machine like those big linemen have to do.

very true and we almost got stuck with him
but this time I really think he is right. When I heard he was going to the jets it never bothered me. The jets are not a team that can win with all the interceptions he throws.

A buddy of mine tried to tell me they are going keep him reeled in and he wont throw as much as he did with the packers

I told him- well then he wont be favre then will he

true but lets hope he doesnt get so out of breath that they have to pull him. We need all the interceptions he can to us

but he will also own every other major passing record under the Jets...

Marino still did it in less years i believe....so in my heart, i still feel he is the GOAT!

I know. I agree, as you can tell from my comment on him, but everyone else on the show agreed as well and it's more about how now on different stations and different media outlets, we're now getting more positive feedback and opinions on The Phins, which we haven't received for awhile now...

:rotfl1:
yep, and we now know he had no chance of breaking those records without breaking these

YEAH i would never listen to his *** i hate his opinions but for once i have to say i agree and know of others saying similar things... like colin cowherd has been saying the same thing

Phil Simms was on the same show the Monday after the Bucs played here on that opening weekend of the preseason. He was talking to them about the elite QB's like Manning and Brady and said there is a 2nd tier that is Big Ben, Romo, Brees, Rivers, and I think Hassellbeck. Then he said that in his opinion, the best QB on the field that night was Henne and that he can see Henne is 2-3 years being a part of that Romo, Rivers, Big Ben group.

Very true.

The Jets have a history of lighting us up though, regardless of quarterback. I think it was 2005, and Brooks Bollinger shredded the secondary.
