Did Linehan ever have a decent TE in Minny?

I dont understand the concept of people disparaging McMichael because he is coming up for contract soon.

He's not an elite TE? Why not? Before Bates took over and made him block most of the time(Not a bad thing for the results), he was on pace for over 1000 yards. How often do you see TEs break 1000 yards?

When Bates took over, he used him much less as a reciever. It helped improve the team, but it wasnt a real great use for McMichael. When he WAS involved in the passing game, it was mostly for usage as a safety valve. He ended up running alot more shorter, quick routes, and ran a bunch of releases. He would end up getting hasty and poorly thrown passes when he wasnt open.

If he was used like Gonzales or Gates for a full season, he would have pretty damned comparable stats.

He could be elite. Have you forgotten how many times he has dropped the ball? If he can cut that out then I agree he will be top notch.

Nobody is disparaging McMichael. I'm just saying he is solid, not great. Ii think this is a reasonable assessment. But when people start saying that he is as talented as Gates or Gonzalez, they are dreaming in technicolor.
