According to our Charger friends, Cleo Lemon has many of the qualities that Linehan apparently covets. They say he is mobile, maybe not track fast, but he is reportedly able to avoid and escape much better than the statues we have as QB's. He evidently has a strong arm and has performed well, albeit in practice and not in games that matter, in vertical passing situations. He is young and he may have some upside.

That sounds a lot like the QB Linehan left behind this year. I am not saying we have the next Daunte Culpepper, but Linehan may have seen some of those qualities in Lemon and feels like he fits our system better than AJ, Gus, or Sage.

I still am not happy we gave up a 6th, but we have a lot of second day picks next year, so it probably won't matter much in the long run. I wish AJ the best, but I think its good to move on, get rid of his ridiculous salary, and clear the stench Wanny and Spielboy left behind. It appears we may be a step closer to what Saban and Linehan are looking for, even if it is only a baby step.

Perhaps he is the next Randal Cunningham. :shakeno: Lets not start glossing him as a probowler just yet. This move must have more to do with loosing AJ than anything else. I cant beleive we would pin our future qb hopes on another 3rd stringer.

Why would you start another thread to say this? Your thoughts would have fit nicely into the other threads regarding Lemon and the trade.

Lemon is going to be good for the practice squad. H ei snot going to be our QB.

According to PFT, Lemon can hold down the QB position for years to come!* LOL!

Yeah, right.

He is a good prospect, cant complain too much about the trade, however, we need a legit prospect this offseason.

*or so the FO tells them.

Pretty sure Saban and Mueller stupid enough to trade a 6th round pick for someone they have no intentions for to sit on the practice squad.. Thats something the old regime would have done

He is obviously going to get a shot at the QB spot especially with Sage a FA and him and Gus being the only returning players next season..

I think we found a guy that shares similar qualities with John Elway and Donovan McNabb. And Jake Plummer.

Lemon's mobility and ability to throw on target on the run are things that allow you to script more QB movement into the game plan. That helps negate pass rush and gets guys open more. The Broncos are having success because they have a QB who is great at scripted QB movement, and they have a playbook that has more scripted QB movement than any team in the league other than maybe Atlanta.

That would be awesome

So what exactly is the difference between a good prospect and a legit prospect?

wouldnt that make them both good?

Thank you CK for actually READING this thread. The first few posters read something else, because I NEVER said this guy was headed for the Pro Bowl. As you said CK, he possesses some of the qualities Linehan is probably looking for, which is important, because Gus, AJ, or Sage are immobile QB's that do not escape blitzes and stunts real well.

I personally have not seen Lemon play and I'm only going by what many Charger posters are saying about him. They see those qualities in this guy. I am only saying that a QB that is closer to Culpepper and further away from Gus is where we are heading.

Yes, but the Bronco's are winning because Plummer is not running and making the same dumb throws on the run that he use to. So I would not use Jake Plummer, Culpepper is similar (and no I'm not saying he is Culpepper).

One is better than the other. Sorta like 'great' vs 'good' you know different degrees of quality.

A legit prospect is a guy you've actually seen play in the NFL. You have real game footage of. You've seen how they breakdown a defense, how they command the offense, etc. And they've shown great ability. Also an outstanding college player that shows those things in the college level and then has a combine workout that proves he has all the physical qualities needed to play the position.

That player has a legit chance to become great.

A good prospect is a guy you've seen some 'good' things in. He has a good chance of making it, however, his chances of making it are less than a legit prospect.
