It would appear that Martz may be low on the list for consideration after expressing views unfavorable to the Dolphins front office:

But in interviewing Martz, 55, the Dolphins' brass is talking to a coach who doesn't have a high regard for Culpepper.

Several football people close to Martz say that Martz thought the Dolphins made a mistake when they, in effect, exchanged Gus Frerotte for Culpepper before the 2006 season.

Frerotte, Martz told them, is a good backup who makes good decisions. Culpepper, though, is a more gifted player but is limited in his ability to read defenses and understand offensive concepts.

NOT BIG ON THE RUN

Martz also is known for discarding the running game. Miami's second-biggest offensive investment is at running back. Ronnie Brown was the No. 2 overall pick in 2005 and Ricky Williams is expected to return next season.
There is also a note in the cited article that Lewis would want to change the defense to a cover-2 and abandon the hybrid defense installed by Saban.

He could be low on the list, but honestly, that's just speculation. No one really knows what went on in the interview, and what was really said.

Could be, bro but I get the impression that the info came from someone who had direct knowledge what happened during the interview.

Martz would be like a square peg / round hole in Miami, and I don't think he fits the "head coach personality" this team needs....

Out of the three candidates that were interviewed yesterday, I like Brian Shottenhiemer the most....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

it doesnt say that martz hurt himself at all, all it said was that he doesnt think DC can cut it and that he was a mistake.
martz only said things that have already been said by alot of outher people and if the dolphins say that DC stays no matter what then they might be running off the best coach for the job, who ever it is. the dolphins arent married to DC, he should be treated like any outher player. adapt or get the hell out.

I think Martz really hurt himself the most by sucking so bad in his last HC job. He made so many decisions that made me scratch my head. He's not worthy of being a HC on any team- except the Jets. I'd like him to coach them. Rich Kotite was my favorite HC for the Jets though.

True, but now that the info is public on how Martz feels about DC what kind of message would it send Pepper if Martz was hired. I happen to like Martz as a candidate even though I think a strong running game is essential in football. But Miami has been so dull and predictable on offense for so long perhaps Martz is exactly what we need. Eitherway, I'm not too optimistic about any head coach other than Bill Belichick who will be given absolute power which is what Huizange plans to do once again. Scott Pioli, Scott Pioli, Scott Pioli.

Maybe a square peg is what we need because the round one hasn't been working for quite awhile now

Martz is not the right guy for the job. He did well with a team that Vermeil built. The more influence he had over that team the worse they became. If he becomes our coach we will be in for several more years of disappointment

I doubt Wayne would let Martz's opinion of DC keep him from getting the HC job, his wierdness in things done when he was HC of the Rams and lask of respect for the running game might though. I don't want Martz anyway, but who knows what will happen.

I dont think it matters what kind of message it gives to DC. May be that message will be its time to draft a real QB. i think it will be a mistake to look for a HC that like DC. I want the best, i dont care how they feel about DC.
maybe DC is going to be a coach killer

Dont forget he doesnt like joey either.

We can only hope that he did. Martz is an arrogant prick.

In general I'm not a Martz fan, but I agree with him about this.

I don't like Martz either, I don't think he will do anything good for this team except getting DC out of here. :D

Amen on that one. St. Louis pretty much ran him out of town because of what he was doing to the Rams as a team. I think he's a decent OC with the right coach over him, but definately not H/C material. Let someone else make that mistake.
