Ok I saw the game yesterday and I couldnt help to notice the play calling. I know Murlacky decides on some plays that make you go wtf, but yesterday the play calling was so much better. When Ronnie get the load over 20 times a game we have always won, I hope Murlacky figured it out. Also Joey only threw for 32 passes. I mean if he would given the bulk to Brown since the beginning of the season, like the Bills game where he totally gave up on it after the second half another Bird would have sang. In my opinion he need to realize that Ronnie yesterday ran all over the best D in the NFL, and he needs 20-25 carries a game. I also like the fact he was also using him as a Reciever. If Murlacky focuses this offense around Ronnie we are bound to win more games....

Playcalling yesterday was much better. Needs to be at least55%-45% in Rushing's favor. Harrington and the whole offense will look much better if he only has to throw 25 passes a game. And Ronnie can carry the load, after yesterday, just get him the ball. Although, against the Chiefs, Harrington and RB can have a HUGE game. They're pass D is bad.

There Pass may be bad, but there is talent all over that Secondary. Remember they have one of our best players in Surtain and alongside is Law.At safety they have Knight and Wesley. What I do hope is Saban rushes Ronnie early cause they are pretty bad on the Run. If we hold LJ we can pull up a win, and Saban has to stick Bell on Gonzalez all day.

I agree. The playcalling was much, much better IMO. It almost seemed as if maybe Saban gave Mularkey an ultimatum to run the ball more.

Also, I think there was a moment in every game leading up the Bears game that made you say, "What in the world are they running?". Yesterday, I didn't have that feeling at all.

So, with all the Mularkey bashing that's been done up-to-date (from myself included), let's give him some props for yesterday. Good job Mularkey!

Hopefully he uses the same game plan against the Cheifs, because their Run D is bad. And i think our D-line and our LB's need to step up big against the Chiefs Run.Stoping LJ is key to beating those suckers.

Moo deserves a game ball for yesterday.....he mixed the play caling up just right. I think if Ronnie shows he can run the ball the way he has than we need to stick with. The running game opens up our passing game and keeps defenders from blitzing.

Give Ronnie the rock 25 times and we have a chance every week. We would probably be 4-4 at least if they would have really made a strong commitment to run from the start.

The play calling by Mularkey and the clock management by Saban at the end of the first half were awful. After Mularkey called the 3rd draw to Ronnie Brown, I think the Bears D figured it out, but that didn't stop Mularkey from calling it again and again. With 2 timeouts and a 1st down Saban calls for Joey to spike the ball to kill the clock. This gave the offense only two plays before they kicked the botched Mare field goal. They then ran the clock down and used one of those remaining timeouts. Leaving a timeout on the board and wasting a down. It was Herm Edwards-worthy poor time management.

But other than that it was a solid game. Though I don't know how much credit to give Mularkey for finally figuring out to get the ball into the hands of his best and most consistent player: Ronnie Brown.

That might have scared me 5 years ago, but in 2006 we can take them deep.

Anyway, I agree that the calls have been much improved, though going into shotgun on 2nd and short still blows my mind. You're in the perfect situation for a playaction pass or to hammer it for a first, and you handicap yourself 5 yards. Oh well, I'll take the results this time.

i don't think you guys fully understand what goes on yes i agree i don't like mularkey's play calling and the only reason ronnie had more carries is that we had the lead in the 4th quarter and we trying to run the clock down as much as possible we are usually behind that's why we are throwing more than running and other than the bears game this was the only game ronnie didn't make his own holes ...the line actually blocked your not going to win if you run the ball and get 2 yards here and there that's why we have been throwing the ball alot more because untill the bears game we couldn't...and i don't think the chiefs pass D is bad they got surtain, law, knight, wesley and there line blocks pretty well

I really think that us getting out in front allowed us to run the ball more in Mularkey's mind. We've been in every game but we've been behind most of the time. When it's close, we can still run the ball. That's what Mularkey doesn't understand. I expect that if we go down a TD we'll be back to our old ways and once again we'll be left shaking our heads. Lets just hope to God that we can get out in front early.

Mularkey did better but he still had some horrible calls.

I hope he is gone at years end. It shouldn't take a former NFL coach 8 games to figure out to run the ball. And it is quite obvious that special teams and offense are the reason we have been losing games.

it still wasn't enough... in the first half we ran ronnie 12 times but joey passed 21 times... that should be more balanced... we just had a lead and were able to run it out to get that ratio closer... he still needs to run more

I still questioned a lot of his play calls, but at least he looked like he had a plan. He knew we had to run the ball and he kept at it when it was working. The first 7 games, it looked like he was just randomly calling plays. Yesterday looked more like he had a gameplan that he worked on during the week.

My biggest head scratcher, was towards the end of the second quarter. We hit them with a draw that Ronnie took all the way down to the 20. Then, despite having 2 timeouts, we spike the ball wasting a play. After that we run two straight times when we had 40 seconds and 2 timeouts to try and move 20 yards. Why not take some shots and try and get a TD out of it? Especially when you have Olindo Misse'.

yeah, I agree.

I didn't think the play calling was all that much better. It still seemed like we were passing a lot before the 4th quarter. It was all the same stuff that everybody complained about before like passing on 1st down, passing on 3rd and short etc.

I guess the thing that stood out the most (to me) was when the fins were up 14-3. Chicago continued to run the ball, and they were pretty successful. If we were in that situation, I guarantee we would have been airing it out like nobody's business.
