Parcells was technically there during the draft, but if I'm not mistaken there was a big ****-up regarding the Al Groh tenure and I've heard tell that other people were behind the draft.
Parcells was definitely involved but Al Groh was in charge of that draft and made the pick.

Pennington was the Jets 3rd (of four) first round pick of the 2000 draft, behind Shaun Ellis and John Abraham. 2000 was Parcells' first year as GM-only for the Jets.
He was the first quarterback taken, ahead of Marc Bulger and, more significantly, this kid out of Michigan taken in the 6th round. Name of Brady or something...
