did ross and ireland hit a homerun with philbin?

I'm more concerned about the QB. A great coach can't do much without an elite QB. However, an elite QB can make up for a mediocre coach.

I'm hoping it's a home run. But if it is, it's an incredibly lucky in-the-park home run on a blooper due to multiple fielding errors.

OK, that's really forced, but trying to keep with the metaphor. What I'm saying is that Ross may have stumbled into a great coaching hire, but more through luck than design. After all, if Cowher, Gruden and Fisher don't pass, we're not having this conversation. Philbin was Plan D at best.

They haven't even put the bags on the bases yet. :)

We won't know if this is a home run until 2-3 years from now. I would have liked to see up and coming, YOUNGER, defensive coaches interviewed and considered.

Philbin comes from a winning tradition. Maybe he will be perfect, maybe we will not have to begin from square one and completely rebuild the team. I hope so

With Philbin, you get a guy that will not quit {unlike Saban}, will have a plan that will cover every scenario {unlike Cameron), has more then enough football knowledge to know what he is doing on game day {Unlike Sparano}, and he will not pigeon hole his team to be great at only one side of the ball {Like Wanny}.

He could could fail, but he could also give us 10-15 years that we have been missing for a very long time as Dolphin fans.
