Did Saban sound like Wanny in his PC when he said...

if you have a good defense it isn't always bad when you have to kick. Play the field position game to get a sub-par offense in better field position for the next possession or 2 possessions from now.

I completely agree that it's 100% right! What I find ironic is that when Wanny made his "it's not a sin to have to kick the ball" comment, he was ripped a new one. Saban says the same thing and now people finally see "the light".

I defended Wanny then ,and I defend Saban now. Football is a game of field position. There is not one offense that has ever existed that can score every time

Don't forget that Jimmy Johnson won a couple of Super Bowls with that in mind.

every coach had that in mind. If they didn't they would never punt

I've said for a while now that i felt Saban's and Wanny's philosophies are eerily similar... the difference is that Saban is a much more powerful leader, and seems to have the inate ability to get his teams to buy what he is selling... which therefore makes him a better coach than "lobster trap."

saban does = Wanny it is so true just liek playing the quarterback that manages the game or doesn't lose it i see this as totally wanny like I mean lets be real our D isn't actually going to be all that yet we want to have a qb that manages the game? wtf saban we need a fricken gunslinger we need aj who can shake off a bad throw then air it out again! Mark my words we will be playing alot of catchup this year and a game managing qb isnt going to win it for us and neither is our d!

He made me think of Wanny when he used the word 'standpoint'. Though he only used it once I think, whereas Wanny found a way to work into about every other sentence. :D

Bite your tongue, they shouldn't be mentioned in the same breathe....However, I just hope that Linehan isn't another Wanny "stick by your QB no matter how bad his is."

DW = Jay Fiedler

Linehan = Frerotte

Say it isn't so.......:shakeno:
