Did the Dolphins miss out on ANOTHER freak UM TE prospect???

I wouldn't loose a lot of sleep dreaming about a 220 pound tight end who has never played football.

What exactly makes Swoope a "freak" TE prospect? As Gregory said, he hasn't played a down of college football. I'm not worried about this signing for the Colts. I'm sure Colts fans aren't proclaiming him the next great Tony Gonzalez either.

Didn't we sign a freak athlete potential TE 2 years ago? How did he turn out?

Where is he now?

How many "freak UDFA TE" prospects have the 'fins missed out on exactly? Is this an annual thing? What's with the all caps "ANOTHER"?

This guy may be good eventually but with no football background at all he is definitely a project.

I personally think there are more 220 pound wide receivers, who have been deemed too slow, that I would rather sign and try to add 25 or 30 pounds to their frame and move them to tight end.

If he turns out good I wont blame Hickey. I wouldnt sign a guy that has never played football at any level either

Chuck defining Swoope as a "freak":

"To be able to just break a huddle, get in a stance, run the routes that he ran, catch the balls that he caught, I mean, off the charts, exceeded our expectations way beyond anything that you'd ever imagine for a guy that never played," Pagano said...

FOR GODS SAKE ALMIGHTY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

we did not want that kind of TE. we already have the downfield TE, the COACHING STAFF wanted, and needed a BLOCKING TE WITH SOME CATCH ABILITY....and they got it.

clay is a GREAT downfield TE but tell me what TE we had on the roster PRE DRAFT that could block? the TE's were a big part of that awful line performance last year [as were the rb's and the qb] as clay cant block anyone and neither could any other TE.

so ENOUGH of all these awsome TE's the team ignored. if we needed a another downfield TE threat for this offense LAZOR wouldnt have asked hickey for it? this years offense was the focus and if we didnt have the downfield TE on the roster lazor needs it WOULD have been addressed.

THINK folks.

You want people to "THINK"? My God, man. It's the middle of dead season! Irrational overoptimism reigns supreme. Every undrafted free agent is headed for the Hall of Fame. Every has been undrafted QB is the next coming of Dan Marino. There is no thinking. There is no realism. There is only a board full of fans who give a thumbs down to every one who ever suggests that the rookie UDFA that they have a man-crush on is less than an immediate starter who will make the difference between the Fins going 15-1 instead of 7-9.

You can be sure that if Ireland was still GM there would be people that would blame him for letting him get out of S. FL without signing him.

We already have a better blocking TE on the roster than what we got in Lynch. Sims is a better blocker for sure. And in case you haven't noticed the NFL draft isn't Burger King. You can't "have it your way". Just because Lazor may have wanted a seam threat TE doesn't mean Hickey could have jus magically invented one and drafted him. I'm quite sure if you ask Lazor if he would like to have a Jimmy Graham or Vernon Davis added to the roster he wouldn't have turned it down.

I'm pretty sure Lazor and Koyle both asked for some things they didn't get. Hard to believe it would have been Lazor's dream to be two weeks post draft without a starting OG on the roster, but some times things just work out that way.

Come on people, think before you post. This isn't Madden.
