I know Steve Ross has spent half a billion dollars on renovations, but some of these new stadiums(Vikings, Cowboys) are beautiful. You guys think he did enough to bring the superbowl back to south florida on a consistant basis?

Well they awarded us the SB in a few years so I think the league feels we have.

I think one of the smartest things he did was allow the stadium to "stand out" amongst the rest. There was no way he'd ever be able to compete with a brand new stadium, but those cost a few billion, so $500 million got him essentially a brand new identity, a homefield advantage and a Super Bowl.

I'd say its everything he could of expected from it and he'll easily make back his money.

The biggest drawback of the stadium is location. But to put that in perspective, if it was in a high population area like downtown Miami or something like that . . . . there just isn't the mass transit infastructure in place to successfully run that operation. At least in its current spot its ideal for South Floridians . . . as we all drive down here. But from a Super Bowl perspective, you'd like to have the stadium within walking distance of the festivities or in a downtown area.

I always thought they had a chance to build it near the Sawgrass Mills Mall. Plenty of room out there to build the environment for football and you have the major highways all right there plus the largest Outlet Mall in the world. Plenty of incentive for families. But of course that gets expensive and Ross owns the land where the stadium is.

So yea, he gets 2 thumbs up from me.

So he did enough to keep South Florida relevant as far as Superbowls?

Under Goodell its all political man. I mean its 80 degrees outside, that should always make South Florida a "relevant spot" for Super Bowls. Apparantely you have to play towards his London agenda and have a new stadium to be consistently considered for a Super Bowl.

Truthfully, this could be the last Super Bowl South Florida receives in a long time.

Yeah....I see what you are saying.

By the way he gets 2 thumbs up from me as well.

I actually don't mind the spot of the stadium, it gives fans from various parts of Florida the ability to travel there without the headache of going downtown Miami or the Miami area in general. There is absolutely nothing cool around the stadium, but that's smart business on their part, makes you spend all your money inside. They did all they could aside from figure out a good parking situation. It took me one hour to leave the parking lot when I went to the game against the Cardinals. It's not even so much the bad traffic flow, it's the people inside the parking lot that break all the rules of being a decent human being just to leave before everyone else.

Oh I agree with you, it would be "unattractive" to me to have to deal with that headache. But just pointing out most stadiums are in a downtown area with a lot of bars/restaurants or are next to high end public transportation options.

Personally, I'm not dropping the kind of coin to eat/drink inside the stadium after all the money I spent to park and go inside the stadium. I'll hit a local Duffy's up after the game

Weather has a lot to do with it so yes. Miami will always have the edge along with LA, Arizona, Houston....southern warm weather teams.

:chuckle: Well, this ought to be popular ...

I think the SB should rotate around the country, so that everyone gets a chance to host it. Weather be damned.

*flame suit on*

Sounds like a great idea. Would love a snowy superbowl in pitt.

Wasn't there a thread about the field being subpar? My memory isn't too good these days but I could have sworn that was a game where the field did look like crap.

27 of the 50 superbowls have been hosted in 3 cities...miami being one of them

as more dome stadiums get built you are going to see more diversity in cities that get selected....but as of now miami will always be in the conversation because as has been stated, our weather.

They could rotate the Super Bowl between NY, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay so long as the Dolphins get to play in it.

If they're not in it, I couldn't care less if they played the game in my back yard.
