Lets say we retained our very own Lamar Miller, or signed Le Garret Blount, who was very much available all offseason, we have a nice running attack. In the draft, we spend 2 3rd rounders in a RB and a WR (Drake and Caroo), then we spend another 6th on Grant...
3rd rd Drake
3rd rd Caroo
6th 2016 Caroo
3rd 2017 Caroo
4th 2017 Caroo
6th 2016 Grant

Lets say we get some DE help in next years draft with our 1st, which would seem like the logical choice given that Wake and Williams are long in the tooth. We could have had, in 16-2017

'16 3rd
'16 3rd
'16 6th
1st DE
2nd
3 rd
3rd (comp, assuming, maybe 4th, Vernon loss)
4th
5th
6th
7th
That's 11 picks to get a Defense for the future (throw in a G or 2, and a TE or 2), and we could have been even better with Lamar, who almost NEVER gets injured, Griff Whalen (for what I've seen from Carroo and Grant, we would be fine with him, I know it's early though), and Blount as a compliment/plan B for Miller

Now, I'm not taking into account who was available, and when, for those pick to matter, I'm just pointing out that our front office doesn't seem to have its priorities straight, and THERE lies our main problem. We need a dominating Defense, period!!

Trading up for Carroo was a bad move

Letting Miller go was a bad move

I think many here were confused to the amount of offensive players taken in the draft. I know some were very happy we took Carroo and it's too early to say that was a bad pick...we need to give him time to prove himself. But he better be better than Parker and Landry to make sense of that trade.

I did not get the Caroo move at all. I have no idea why we gave so much to get him.

Seems like the plan was to remake the offense this draft and give Tannehill and crew a year to learn the system. Case will slowly add Grant, Carroo and Drake in. Very telling that Drake was active. I suspect Drake will be the starter next year. As for the defense; the 2017 draft with all the comp picks, will be spent on defense.

Agree 100%, Caroo can turn out to be a very reliable WR, we will find out. But, for the bounty spent on him, our LB corps could have been greatly improved (at lest tried), no to mention the negligence in playing ALL Tackles in our line, not 1 natural Guard, and I refuse to believe none were available. We see trends in drafts following past SB winners all the time. Sometimes its WR's (I remember well after the Boldin SBowL everybody wanted a sure-handed WR), SOMETIMES IT'S RB'S. This day and age, and it has always been the case, a SOLID D keeps you in every game, and even a game mgr can take you the distance. The other way around, and you're expecting miracles, which seems to be our case, sadly, year in and year out. This cannot continue!!

At the cost of a 6th, this years 3rd and 4th. That's 3 draft picks for him( Caroo ). They overplayed for sure, hope he can be a Landry 2.0. Then and only then I say it was fair.

We had offensive weapons and let them walk in both phases of the offense with Miller and Matthews. The draft should have been used to acquire an offensive lineman, and then focus on the defensive side of the ball.

Lo and behold what happens - the GM approves a trade for two injury prone has-beens relinquishing a top 10 draft pick in the process, and thinks the defense is a go overlooking the fact that it is riddled with aging players and needs rejuvenation. With that delusion intact the Fins then proceed to draft gadget offensive players, while giving up even more unnecesary picks in the process, who's contributions combined might reach 3% of the total offensive touches throughout the remainder of the season.

That gentlemen is what is referred to as, "You've been Tannenbomb'd" and the answer to the OP's question is a resounding "no".

* Howard is showing to be the best of the worst CBs, but when the unit is absolutely horrid, that praise doesn't account for very much. He simply doesn't look incompetent to play the position.

Why? he isn't exactly lighting it up in HOU...

Stick with fantasy football. That's where non contextual statistics is of more use.

Here's your context.

Lamar Miller, Texans' running game comes alive in 4th quarter

Lamar Miller kept lowering his helmet and shoulder pads as he plowed into the Kansas City Chiefs’ massive wall of a defensive line.
It was a mostly an exercise in frustration for the Texans running back for three unproductive quarters Sunday.

Miller finally found some room to operate in the fourth quarter, stubbornly grinding out 45 yards on 12 carries to finish with a workmanlike 83 yards on 25 carries.

Miller’s perseverance and tackle-breaking ability were important factors in allowing the Texans to close out the Chiefs for a 19-12 victory at NRG Stadium.

“The fourth quarter, we had to get some tough yards to keep the ball moving and keep the chains moving,” Miller said. “I was trying to do a good job of being decisive and hitting the hole. I think I was trying to set up the linebackers because they overflow. Sometimes, I've got to be decisive and just hit the hole.”

Of course, disagree and make personal attacks.

I will admit, I haven't watch any Texans games, but who's to say Miller would do much more than what we have now. With Foster out, Miller is definitely better than Ajayi, but not sure how much a difference Miller would make with our current offense.

Personal attack? It's not a personal attack just b/c you take it personal. Throwing out stupid numbers with little relation to the facts on hand is not an intelligent way of viewing the game of football; that's the "enjoyment" of non-sense like fantasy.

I love you too.

you should have posted this in the "FORGET EVERYTHING ELSE, Mike Tannebuam" thread!!:brewskis:

But they got rid of Lamar Miller because they didn't think he would hold up with an increased work load....so they drafted the oft-injured, Kenyan Drake to make up for the loss. They drafted Carroo because he was the second rated WR on their board.:rolleyes2:

This all stems from the Jordan Phillips acquisition. You know....when we needed a starting guard and Mikey forced his hand and took a DT with issues about work ethic and inconsistency. The guy who looked like a world beater for a few plays in week one and then disappeared in week 2. The guy who got schooled by the rookie (Thuney) taken 5 spots after Drake this year.

He wasn't about to spend another draft pick or $$$ in FA on a DT when he had his boy waiting in the wings.

It's hard to tell who was worse this week.....the DL or Jelani Jenkins. Why pursue a LB when you haven talent like this on the roster?

You can't hide your condescending bitch tone and act like you're not making a personal attack.

But none the less, I apologize for not dedicating 10 hours of film study on Miller before making such an outrageous comment. Still not convinced he would get much done behind our o-line.
