Did you cheer (out loud - otherwise it doesn't count) when they read off Ronnie's name as the #2 overall selection in this year's draft?

I did. I was the loudest person at the sports bar, though LOTS of people there cheered as well. Weird, too, because I live near Jacksonville where love for our 'Fins is usually in short order (or so I thought).

Anyway, I wish I could say that was the first and only time I literally cheered out loud for a pick with such enthusiasm. [I also cheered the selection of Sammie Smith and Louis Oliver in the 1st round of the (I think) 1989 draft. Doh!] Gee, let's hope things turn out better with Ronnie.

No doubt. Ronnie's "Da man!"

Finally, if I'd been old enough then and known more about football back in '83 I'd probably have cheered just as loud for the 27th overall selection of that year's draft, too. THAT is how sure about Ronnie I was and continue to be.

GO 'FINS!

I wa hoping that we would draft him and when we did, i had the biggest smile on my face and i jumped around.

Well, obviously Smith was no good, but Oliver was pretty darn good for the Phins. That was a quality pick.

What's really sad about Sammie is that he showed such promise at the beginning. There was an early game there against NE, I think, where he ran for almost 150 yards. We looked so poised to dominate there for little while. Sad.

Yes, Louis was amazing. But only for a little while. Forgot what cut his carrier short. I'll never forget the 103 yard INT return for a TD against Barfallo. That game was a thing of beauty. Think he had two more pick in that game, too. Not sure. Would love to watch that game again.

i thaught the fins would draft a QB. but they just HAD to go with the best player on the board. o well.

Yep I was shouting, but I usually make even more noise busting out laughing after hearing who the Jets pick!!!!!:bugeye: :roflmao:

How about, "was happy, but I wish they didn't take so long because everyone knew they were going to pick Ronnie Brown".

We did at the Sportz Bar. It was amazing how everyone was cheering and high-fiving.

Ronnie wasn't my 1st choice, but I think this year's draft was more of a 1a, 1b, 1c type of draft. I was pleased we got such a talented player, but I was hoping for Edwards or even more to trade down.

I WAS AT the 1983 Draft!

I cut school with a HUGE Baltimore Colt fan. I was in the 11th grade.
And I remember being on TV when they interviewed a jet fan about their pick....Ken O'Brien.
I remember being SOOO happy when the jets took him ahead of us.
