Well I usually don't care for Prisco, but I agree with his assement, and even noticed Bill B's classlessness, which is the complete opposite of classy, respectful Coaches of Dungy and Lovie Smith.
Here's a portion to the article from Prisco. "In an era of coaching ogres -- Dungy beat one in Bill Belichick -- we have two guys who keep the game in proper perspective.
The game is important to them, but not nearly as important as other things in their life, including their faith, their family and how they treat people.
You will never see them berating a player or a member of the media.
(hmm, Nick Saban anyone?)
Tony Dungy is a heck of a coach. He might be an even better man. Smith, who was prepped as an assistant for Dungy while in Tampa Bay, is right there with him.
So, as part of the weekly Monday grades column, I want to give both an A+ for showing that there are other ways to a Super Bowl
other than the control-freak, workaholic, media-hating breed of coaches.
Dungy and Smith, two soft-spoken, even-keeled men, would not dare think of pushing a photographer after a game the way Belichick did a few weeks back as he went to meet Eric Mangini at midfield.
Why? Because they respect others, and that man's job is just as important to him as coaching is to them. Too bad Belichick doesn't understand that.
Dungy has always been gracious in defeat, praising the other team, even in tough times, like when his team choked away a Super Bowl chance last season by losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home.
Belichick was his usual curmudgeon self after losing Sunday night, nothing gracious at all in the way he answered questions, with very little praise for the Colts.
So this is one for the good guys. With Dungy and Smith in the Super Bowl, we might actually see a stem in the tide of coaches who rule with an iron fist, using fear as their best weapon to drive a team. Maybe it will change the way coaches work, too.
Both Smith and Dungy put in lots of time, but they don't force assistants to sleep at the office or kill them in the offseason just for the sake of keeping them in the office."
