Ricky Williams said in the Miami Herald about not being able to play football because of suspension, "I took a year off," he said. "I didn't miss it then, so I don't think I'll miss it now." How can you count on somebody to give 100% when they don't even have the drive to play?

who cares if his "heart" is in it at this point? he is basically playing for free right now. we'd either lose our money or not, so whatever. as long as he produces, its a moot point.

why does everyone care what ricky thinks, feels, and does? he will be suspended for 4 games and not be allowed to even be at the stadium.

Ricky probably means that he won't miss it in a sense that he won't feel an emotional compulsion to play while he's gone. To him, that's a good thing, because supposedly he likes to stay in control of his emotions and keep centered. That statement more than likely means that he won't obsess over not being on the field and will be patient enough to wait until he can play again. He'll still be in the natural balance of his astro body and whatnot ;)

If you're going to worry about a Ricky comment, worry more about him saying "Last year when I left, they didn't have a running back." That's not a very supportive thing to say about the teammates still on the team at your position. Morris, Gordon, and Minor should probably have taken offense to that comment.

Because if your heart's in the game, you're more likely to care more about winning the game. If you just want to play for money, it doesn't matter who wins or loses, you still get paid at the end of the week. You gotta have the drive to keep it alive man.

i agree with that principle, but lets not make false illusions as to why Ricky is back. If there was no settlement against him to repay the dolphins, he would not be back.

look, i'd like to think he wants to play for us too, but lets not lie to ourselves. right now for him its about the money and settling the score. Once he repays his debt to us i'd be surprised to see him stay. especially given with the status of our backfield right now.

That['s a good way to look at it :peace:

don't put any stock into what ricky williams says. i think he speaks before he thinks sometimes, and tries, at least a little, to sound more deep than any one person could be.

Here is what Ricky cares about. $$$$$$!!! He doesnt care if he wins or not. He does care how he does because Ricky needs the money. People really need quit trying to make since out of anything he says. He is on a whole different planet at this point. As long as he comes about and runs for 100+ yards a game I could care less if he hates football, the organization or the fans.

He has been one of the hardest working players in camp from reports, so to question his drive to me is pointless. His drive isnt winning games, its putting food on his family's table and a roof over their heads.

That's the beauty of our RB situation. We have Ronnie Brown. Ricky is just and extra luxury. We don't NEED him to give 100% all game.

I'm sure he meant no disrespect with that comment, because he was always very supportive of Minor and had hoped he would get an oppurtunity. He probably meant that they weren't prepared to deal with the season without him, because we really didn't have any backs that we saw as starting caliber at that time. If Morris and Minor wanted to get offended over something, our own front office traded a 3rd round pick for an RB and publicly admitted they did not believe either were starting caliber.
