It had been 19 months since
Dion Jordan participated in a football practice, so Miami's pass rusher couldn't have been more excited about putting on football pads and a helmet.
Unfortunately for the
Miami Dolphins' 2013 first-round pick, Wednesday's session was a non-contact practice, so Jordan will have to wait until Thursday's session to hit someone.
But considering Jordan has waited this long after serving a year-long suspension, and then rehabbing a knee injury since the spring, what's one more day?
"It was a real good thing," said Jordan, who has spent the past four months rehabilitating his surgically repaired knee since being reinstated by the
NFL. "I'm just trying to knock the rust off, and put one foot in front of the next and keep it going."
The Dolphins don't know what they can expect from Jordan, who was used as a hybrid linebacker by Miami's previous coaching staff, but they are intrigued to see what this 6-foot-6, 275 pounder could potentially bring to the team.
"We don't have any [expectations]," defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said when asked about Jordan. "We just want to see him practice, and hopefully he can help us this year. If not, he'll help us next year.
