It looks to me that Dion Sims may have a greater role in Lazor's offense than Mike Sherman. Sherman didn't seem to use him for anything more than blocking. I think he had maybe 6 passes thrown to him the entire year. Dion had a good scrimmage, so let's hope the progress continues.

These are the receiving stats for the scrimmage:

Receiving

Jarvis Landry: 2 catches, 40 yards, 1 TD
Rishard Mattthews: 3 catches, 30 yards
Lamar Miller: 2 catches, 27 yards, 1 TD
Dion Sims: 4 catches, 27 yards, 1 TD, 2-point conversion
Mike Gillislee: 2 catches, 12 yards
Gator Hoskins: 1 catch, 16 yards
Kevin Cone: 1 catch, 16 yards
Daniel Thomas: 2 catches, 11 yards
Armon Binns: 2 catches, 11 yards
Damian Williams (WR): 1 catch, 9 yards
Brandon Gibson: 1 catch, 6 yards
Charles Clay: 1 catch, 5 yards
Damien Williams (RB): 1 catch, 5 yards
Ryan Spadola: 3 catches, 3 yards
Michael Egnew: 1 catch, 0 yards
Orleans Darkwa: 1 catch, 0 yards

Sherman just did not use the talent he had and it stagnated the offense. Hopefully we are beyond that and look like a real team this year on that side of the ball.

Lazor is our only hope, our Luke Skywalker

Sims caught 6 of 9 throws last year with 1 drop and a TD (how can we forget that catch). He did not block much, around 160 snaps, and was really bad in trying to do so. I expect he is improved in his second year. Looking forward to seeing him in preseason games.

Our Obi Wan?
Sorry for getting nerd on you

While Leia's only hope was Obi Wan, the galaxy's true hope was Luke. "A New Hope" was Luke's emergence as a Jedi.

So perhaps you are right though, that Lazor would be our Obi Wan, and Tannehill would be our Luke as he emerges as a QB Jedi.

Thanks for posting sis. I am pulling for Sims to lock down the number 2 spot behind Clay. I think he will have a lot better year than last year and give Ryan and Bill another weapon.:hi5:

Nope, never forgot that catch, but after that he disappeared. I think he's a decent player. I'm hoping we get more out of the TE position this year, Clay can't do it all by himself and after a little scare, he was limping in the scrimmage and had an ice pack. He's ok now, but we really do need another good TE. Nothing from Egnew, yet, and can't expect much from the rookie. So that leaves Dion Sims, he's capable, and hopefully he'll step up his game.

He had a few moments last year also. That over the shoulder 1-handed catch while being held/interfered with was pretty sweet.
