I might just order me some DirectTV for the remainder of the season, lots of games left and at $62 for 4 months thats not bad.
but, I have heard in rainy/sh*tty weather, you cant watch anything, is this true?

mine has only gone out once and that was when hurrican katrina came through north ms and there were about 80 mile an hour winds

Not true at all. I have had directv for three years and never had any trouble. Cable companies will say anything to scare customers away from purchasing a dish.

it depends on where you are at, if there are trees in the way. Thats the main problem, if there are trees in the way you won't be able to get the local channels. Mine went out a couple of times during bad weather, lately its went out a few more times, but only for about 5 minutes at the most. Cable used to go out for a whole night. My friend went from DTV and then to digital cable, he hates it, wants DTV back

The one exception is if you have a lot of trees in the direction the satellite is facing. Swaying trees in hardcore weather can cause your reception to mess up but it doesn't take it out all the way. I love my DirecTV and would recommend it to pretty much anyone.

Rain fade does happen....but only briefly and only when severe weather is in the area. Can't say what snow will do....haven't had that here in the Tampa area...yet. LOL.

It will go out during heavy snowstorms, or very heavy rain, we have been under a massive storm (storms) the past 6 days (over 13 inches of rain), mine went out for a total of 5 minutes when I was watching.

Its not bad like the cable companys say.

mine only goes out with SEVERE rain and snow...your standard rain storm may cause the occassional fade, but there is no significant outage...but don't buy into the nonsense that it doesn't go out at all, because it does, and usually when you least want it to

Direct TV isn't perfect but I'll take it over cable anyday. It does break up on occation but it's very rare and gets back on line very quickly where I live.

Cover,

Don't buy the ticket they should give that to you the rest of the season free for signing up. Next make sure they throw in a DVR for free. I have a friend who just got DirectTV and was given both of these.

All you have to do is ask.

It rarely gives me a problem. And if it does go out it is only out for 5 minutes or so.

I've had NFL ticket for I think 7-years now and I've never not seen a game. That includes during 3 hurricanes that hit the Orlando area last year.

We have had a few issues. However when you live in Florida and it rains here every 5 minutes it happens. But it really doesnt happen often enough to matter. And usually if it goes out its either the the cable channels that go out or the local... usually you still have one of em. But its usually only for a matter of minutes till it finds itself again.

I love my Direct TV I wouldnt give it up for anything.

Same story here. Mine seems to best the tough part of the storm, but just when it is about to level off, it starts to hiccup for about 5-10 mins and then comes back online.

Nothing significant at all IMO. IT has never led me to want to cancel or anything...especially since I can just watch a recorded TIVO show if the live satellite signal is acting up.

If you get directv, be sure to get TIVO too!! :)

Mine made it through 2 out of the 3 hurricanes that hit Orlando last year...the only reason it wasn't 3 for 3 was due to the fact that we lost power for a few days after the 1st storm. Buy it, its a great investment for football fans.
