You guys are complaining about 403 yards of total offence, 27… Did I say it? 27 first downs, 13 passing and 14 rushing. Did I mention that we were 15 out of 21 on third downs. What?? Wasn’t 45 minutes of possession time good enough?? I guess Ted Gin really blew it big time today, 11 receptions for 108 yards, a real elite receiver would double those numbers and would have caught that pass for a touch down. Elite receivers in the second game of their third year in the league would never… I mean ever drop a ball like that. They are perfect you know…
Sorry to tell you fellas, we got beat at our weakest point by the guy who specializes in carving up that very same area… Two rookies, and a brand new free safety playing together in their second game. If you missed the Tony Gonzalez show last week, then by all means continue to complain. But if you saw what an in experienced second year QB did to the middle of our defense, you should have expected no better against Peyton manning and we will get another helping of it with drew breeze and then Tom Brady will come to town. Fact is, non verbal communication is key in the secondary, we don’t have it now and it will not come until midway through the season. Take that to the bank.
The bottom line is I saw one team get dominated today and it was not the Miami Dolphins. I don’t believe its fair to say that its Gins fault we lost the game, because like most professions, the offense is a body of work. WE did more than enough to win that game offensively. Yeah we might of won if Ted catches that ball, but I would have liked our chances better if we didn’t give up 2 touch downs in less than a minute and a half of playing time. Did I mention out Safeties allowed 187 yards to the tight end?? Oh year it’s Ted’s fault we lost that game. I guess it’s like playing hot potatoes, who ever had the ball the last is the goat right??
We lost today, we may or may not loose again… While you wrestle in despair about the things that could of, should of, but didn’t happen. I am going to enjoy the fact that I just saw a one in a life time game. 45 minutes of possession time?? Ran the ball down there throats so freak’n hard I was beginning to feel sorry for them. It was bruising, fun and amusing. All the colts fans and coaches can say is good job Peyton, you carved up an experienced secondary with two rookies and a new free safety. That’s a hell of thing to accomplish. Who would have expected such an outcome. This team practiced and they practiced hard. This is the type of game and offensive intensity that we needed to have last year when we got our buts handed to us in the playoffs. I am glad we are this focused so early in the year.
The colts did what any good nfl team would do. They watched game film, saw our weakest point (tight end) and blew it the hell up. It does not take to much to confuse a secondary that has little to no experience with each other. A few new crossing patterns, miss directions, and fakes and you have yourself an instant point generating machine. Playing against our secondary is like playing with a Vegas with a slot machine that only produces 10+ yards, first downs, and touch downs, just pull the lever and see what you’ll get. Manning got touch downs each and every time he pulled that lever today. I was not surprised and you shouldn’t be either.
