I'm very thankful that DirecTV is giving us a free-view of Sunday NFL Ticket Super Fan this coming Sunday.

Miami places Atlanta in HD on channel 704-1.

Then the following Monday, it's Indy at Miami on ESPN...also in HD.

Nice!!!! I'm pretty happy about all that.

I'll fill in the gaps for the rest of the season with either a trip to the Sports Bar or just sitting in my hurricane van listening to the NFL on Sirius.

the first week of the season direct tv always a lets us watch the game in HD.. dont worry, theyll take it away come week 2 though

I actually like going to my local sports bar on Sundays.

We've got a pretty good mix ... About half are Steelers fans, but the other half is a good mix of different teams.

We're well down from a high of about 2 dozen Dolfans to only about 5-8 each week, but it's kinda nice to get the perspective of a true cross-section of NFL fans. Hell, we even had 2 hardcore Detroit fans last year.

Good times!

I used to go to bars every sunday. but at ~$80 a week for me and the girlfriend for food and drinks for 3 hours, and dealing with the crowds, and the fact that the only game audio they played was Ravens, made the sunday ticket seem that much more worth it to me.

Dude to get the free week of sunday ticket you must first have Directv. Which leads to my question.....if you already have directv, why the hell would you not order Sunday Ticket?????

That free preview to me is more or less for people who get all of their teams games locally or those who happen to have directv but arent hardcore fans.

Seriously, if youre going to bother to go to the sportsbars to watch the games and have directv, just order Sunday ticket. The cost will be no more than the money you spend going to the sportsbar every week.

The funny thing is, Sunday Ticket itself costs about $350, and Superfan is between $100-$150 extra. It's a great thing if you're a football fan, but when your DirecTV bill is already between $100-$250 a month (higher for HD service), it can seem cost prohibitive.

My house has Sunday Ticket but no SuperFan. Besides, I get all the Dolphins games in HD anyway.

buddy its about 340 bucks for nfl ticket...i doubt a normal person spends 340 dollars at a sporst bar, no one said drop 40 dollars on beers alone

40 dollars is pretty normal for beer alot of times especially when pitches are usually anywhere from 6-8 add in tip, etc.

Well if you do go to the sportsbar to watch the game, figure on at least ten bucks for food and drink(to just sit there and watch without ordering something is rude, its a business not a park bench). So just going at a bare min. of $10 at least 10 times per year(a few national games and perhaps a couple more shown in a given region) youre spending $100. Thats a liberal total to your argument as well.

Plus consider that if you order the Sunday Ticket, Im sure you can get them to throw in some stuff for free for you to help out the cost. Basically you wont spend very much more(and in reality a little less) to just order the ticket.

guarantee people spend more than $21.25 per game at the sports bar. They don't let you sit there for 3 hours unless you are consuming food or beverage ;)

That depends on where you live. Here in CLE, a lot of establishments require you to keep spending. They'll never tell you that to your face. Before I had the Ticket, I can't tell you how many times I lost the Phins games in a sporst bar with 40+ TV's.

And the price keeps going up every season. It's now $280 for returning subscribers. Now KO the 4 national games and the free 1st week. That's 11 games. Figure a $35 bar tab w/food and tip. Now throw on the $120 for Superfan and it's cheaper at the bar.

you can have a glass of water the whole time if you want.just tip the girl 10$-15$ up front .you will get great service ,and not one word will be said but thanks.

I'll probably spend around $500 for the season going to the sportsbar.
I like having all of the games on around me, and the atmosphere is better than just me on a couch.

I tried that and it didn't help. The managers here check the half time tabs and whatever games get the lowest numbers, get switched to the Browns or Stil'ers. If you're drinking water, you're not evern getting the game on in CLE.

Very true, the atmosphere is better in a sports bar and if you come early before your games comes on you have other games to watch. It is also cool to hear all the fans of other games cheer when something happens in another game.

If you happen to be in the Kannapolis/ Salisbury area of NC on a sunday come check out "Players Sports Bar and Grill"(formally Saturday Nite Lounge). This will be our first year in operation. Me and three other friends took over management a couple of weeks ago and added NFL ticket. We have great food, pool tables, darts, great looking waitresses and of course the fins game will be on the best TVs. Right now we only have 6 HD big screens but are planning on getting a few more. Six is enough to find out if Sunday is gonna be our big day or not.

PS, if you think $300 sounds pricey for the NFL ticket, try shelling out $2500 to have it in a bar. :thanks:
