Whoa whoa whoa, before you start to give a negative reply, I'm on your side. I do not like Gus Frerotte and how he plays the game however, keep in mind...
1. Gus does know the new system better than Sage.
2. Putting a new QB in disrupts team chemistry and balance.
3. It would take weeks for Sage to warm up with the 1st team thus would take some losses to build good chemistry.
4. I do believe Sage is by far a better QB but for the team's sake, we do not need another disruption with the constant inconsistency.

Look what happened last year with the musical bench of QBs thus ending with a 4-12 record. If we would have had one QB all year last year, the record could have improved three or four games better (but wouldn't had ended up with R. Brown :)).

Miami fans have always been to quick to decide to bench a QB after the Marino era. And I am sure Nick Saban know what he's doing and he's right when he asked the fans not to boo Gus anymore. There is far too much negativity in Miami and other team fans laugh about it. We are the best worst fans in the NFL. And that's all I have to say about that so lets hear the negativity shall we???

This one indeed begs to be ripped apart, but simply stated, I couldn't agree more.
Saban has requested not to boo Gus, or the team, stating in so many words, it would only prove counterproductive. Clearly its somthing he feels distressed about, and the fans can either comply, and support his request,
or deny, and hinder his efforts.
Sage could be in, the moment Gus gets injured, which is always only a play away.
Until then, once again I'll support Saban to make the call.

he sucks, but saban sees rosenfels more than we do, so he knows who's better, and i'm sure we're seeing the better QB play. kinda sucks, but that's the way it is. i don't think frerotte is nearly as bad as some people are saying here, though. he at least looks like he has some confidence and looks like he's TRYING out there

Once we're out of the playoff hunt, I don't care who is behind center. But right now, Gus is the smart choice by any coach.
My question is, how do you figure that Sage is a far better QB? That is am opinion with no substance. I disagree totally. If Sage was that much better, there would be no question at all - Saban would already have him in.

Saban wants to build a team, not crybabies blaming everything on one guy, regardless of the circumstances. Saban is a teacher, not someone who follows the herd. He is not ready to give the keys to Sage because he still sees alot of bad play from others on this team as well, aside from Gus, and he doesnt want that overlooked. That is the message I got this week.

I am sure that most all of you did not get that message this week, why? because your more hard headed than Saban is!

I personally think Sage would provide a nice spark. Problem is the long term. Week to week is different than coming in on the fly and playing in preseason games. Sage would be the man. That is not something he has ever been accustomed to. Not that he shouldnt be given his chance, and it may happen in the next few weeks, but in Sabans eyes, the problems are not all Gus.

BTW, if you think we are getting Leinert next year, you are sadly mistaken.

Your theory is sound here and the ONLY reason Gus is still starting for us. Until we are out of the race, we won't see Sage or Lemon unless Gus gets hurt. There are reasons for Sage and Lemon behind Gus...

The idea of knowing the system is now hogwash tho...Sage has been in the system all of the offseason and thruout half of the regular the season. Familiarity of the system is no longer a viable excuse for not starting Sage. However, lack of experience while we are still in the race is a very viable reason or excuse for him not starting.

As far as the negativity, look no further than the 3-5 record that could very well be 5-3 or 6-2 if Gus is half a QB. That's why we have the negativity and why we boo and why we'll continue until Saban does his job and gets the right players in the right places...I'm tired of being close and playing teams tough, but still losing...it's time to start to beat up on our opponents...of course, that will never happen with Gus..

There have been countless occasions when a QB comes of the bench and gives the team a spark (some occasions where it didn't work out so well) but just as quickly as the sparks fly, the QB flames out and it's usually even worse than it was with the original QB.

he sucks. stop defending this bum you guskateer.

knowing the system is useless if YOUR ARM SUCKS.

i hope he hurts every CL in his body today so we see sage.

starting gus against the pats DECREASES our chances of winning.

:yeahthat: I'd like to see Saban finally show he has balls and make a smart decision for once. Sage has been with 90% of our team longer than Gus so how would starting the right man cause a chemistry problem?

Does he have a choice?

Gus has lost all confidece in himself and I don't think he trust the recievers either. I Say put Sage in there and let him chuck it up to Chambers.
