What if jake long is a bust?
 
Are you just mad we didnt draft chris long, vernon gholston or matt ryan?

True, but I trust Irish Tuna on this one. If you watch game film of Jake Long he's most likely going to be a very good tackle in the NFL.

He's not a hype guy, meaning that there isn't any hype on him, his off field workouts will match up pretty well with his on field performance. Hype guys are usually the ones that most likely bust. Look at Gallery, everyone said he was the best Tackle to come out since Pace and people said he was even better than Pace.
 
Well we dont have speilman or randy muller running the draft we have jeff ireland and bill parcells. Im pretty sure that they would know if jake would be a bust or not since thats coach sparanos specialty.
 
at the very worst we have John Runyan. The consensus is Jake Long will at the very least be a dominant RT. Nobody knows how he'll do at LT though.

Thing is, I see a lot of comparisons to Jamaal Brown coming up. Difference is, Brown was drafted as a RT, moved to LT his 2nd year. He is pretty damn good for NO and is a pro bowler.
 
I can't see him possibly being a bust, if he can't handle a fast pass rusher he can be moved to right tackle and be a pro bowl right tackle. I know its number 1 overall but that is still going to help the team.

Not really what we should worry about now. I doubt Jake will be a bust, a tackle has to be pretty bad for everyone to come down on him. Someone like a QB stands out and is the center of attention so it's always easy to point the finger at him.

I think this could be a rough year all and all. There are a lot of things that could happen to make the fans get pissed further. IF Beck continues his play like last season people are going to question the draft but maybe not Long himself. IF McFadden performs at a high level, worse even yet as a Jet. and a nightmare as a Patriot...fans aren't gonna be happy. If Ronnie gets hurt again that will just multiply the misery.

Of course we still have the draft to see some nice changes, hopefully.
Of course a lot of IF's but any one of them can happen, and I'd bet at least one will.

Lol... you can ask that about everyone in the draft.

Garbage Thread indeed... To be honest... Jake was problably the most Bust-proof pick we could have had in a year in which there was no clear cut #1. Think about it... At best he's a Pro-Bowler... at worst, he's a RT. Either way he gives us O-Line help. Anyone else in that draft turns out to be a bust and it's a waste.

There's no such thing as luck. There's prepared, and there's unpreapred. Opportunity and success favor the prepared. This new regime has shown us suprememe levels of preparation and savvy. Past regimes, not so much. To boot, the old guard's actions have zero to do with the new.

Besides, stop pissing on the parade, would ya?
 
Very few things in life are guaranteed...at the worst you have a Pro-Bowl RT that will be there for the next 10-12 years...and trusting Parcells...he had to see J. Elliot in J. Long...and trust me...that ain't bad.

Come on, that's "the worst", i mean i think he will be good, but your worst case is he is a probowl right tackle?

let me guess you have us winning no less that 10 games and making it to the playoffs this year, right?

BTW Elliot made a whopping total of 1 probowl, I mean thats good but he is hardly the tackle all tackles strive to be. I would much rather use Webb as the standard, 7 probowls 5 time all pro and all decade team.
