A quaterback. I just don't understand why people are so enamored with drafting a quaterback. Whatever we saw with John Beck last year should be omitted from being used this year to evaluate whether or not he is a starting QB. I tell you this much, Peyton Manning himself could have come and QB'd this team and not succeed. Why waste a 2nd rounder on a Flacco or Henne when we can pick up a Groves or Harvey? We need to fill the holes that will allow a Beck to be successful. It doesn't take much to evaluate a starting quaterback, in fact at times you really can't make a complete evaluation based on just one season. I think Beck has the intangibles to be a starting quaterback in this league and for that reason alone I refuse to believe that the Dolphins will waste a second round pick on a QB that might very well ride the bench the whole year in oppose to someone who can come in and contribute immediately.

Had Cameron let us see more of John Beck i would agree with you. But right now, as far as we know, this team needs a QB, and in a draft where guys like Henne, Flacco and Brohm maybe available i think it's certainly an option we should keep open. It would most certainly not be wasting a pick.

The way I see it thanks to CamSham, John Beck is our 2nd round pick Quarterback selection this year...for the very same reasons you want to draft a quarterback this year! Real question is if you would be able to do it all over again would you take John Beck ahead of Flacco and Henne? Beck would be the most matured, seasoned, NFL-ready Quaterback available this year again...Since we are not expecting to contend this year then we can take this year to evaluate Beck and if he doesn't seem remotely close to being the answer at QB then update our draft knowledge base for next year where we may be able to select the top quaterback in the nation.

You're preaching to the choir. I have been saying that for a long time. If Beck was in this years draft he would probably go ahead of both Henne and Brohm. Given he has only played in 4 games you cant just wash your hands of him and call it a bust. If BP likes what he sees in Beck then there is no way they go QB on the first day. Drafting a 3rd string QB with the 32nd, I dont think so. :shakeno:

normally i would agree, but if the type of value Brohm presents falls to #32, i think you have to. going into the season, this guy was considered the #1 overall prospect. His stock dropped after the team had a mediocre season(which is why he is dropping i guess), but then his pro days was off the charts.

Brohm has been looking decent, but at the end of the day, will Brohm be handed the keys based on his pro day results? I think it would make more sense to draft a guy that will start and pay immediate dividends. Don't forget there's plenty of first round talent that drops and we might just have the best pick of the draft at 32!

Alright. parcells and Co. DO NOT CARE that Beck was takin last year. I repeat, they DO NOT CARE. It wasn't them, therefore they are not married to him in any way.

As for taking a QB, it seems Parcells in Co really like Henne. I don't want Henne, I don't want a QB but i have a feeling we're taking one. This is a new regime just like any other. If they want their own players, they'll draft their own players.

Also you said "we can get Groves or Harvey" with our 2nd pick. No, no we can not. Neither player will make it out of the first round. im positive of that.

Stranger things have happened...like Brady Quinn dropping 20 spots. Truth is there might be some guy that you and I have never heard of before that could be taken even if Groves or Harvey were available. I've learned the hard way from previous draft years...The Media's talent depth charts have nothing on NFL front office's depth carts...

yeah, that guys Quentin Groves. The media has him going 28-35 range. And i think hes going around 20 to the bucs or the steelers.

BP didnt draft Beck, but that makes no difference. First guy they hired was a QB coach to evaluate Beck. If they like what they saw and see upside to Beck then what difference does it make if they drafted him or not? You dont just draft another high QB to fill a spot, especially if your happy with whats on the team. If the team didnt have so many needs then I could see taking another young QB, but as it sits it would be a waste of a pick.

I never said they werent happy with Beck, just that they're not married to him. No one knows how they really feel about Beck. We'll find out on Saturday just how much they like Beck.

It's not like were talking about missing the playoffs and crap people were going to be like 6-10 next year maybe better but doubt it. WE ARE REBUILDING IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW. We need a wr te og ilb de cb and even more so depth. Lets give Beck a chance and then if we have to Mccown. The if we need a qb we can get 1 next year and it is sure to be better then this weaker draft class of qb's.

Not one QB in this draft can compare numbers wise to Beck out of college, so what exactly out there is so great we just have to have him? It's good to have a backup, but there isn't anyone I see that we just have to have to ensure success for the future. Miami has to many other needs to take QB's on the first day back to back.

The first 3 rounds of this draft have alot of guys that can start and make an immediate impact on day 1.

This draft is literally filled with talent at nearly every position. The one position that wont field a starter is QB.

I'm with the OP. If we want to take a flyer on a QB, take him after the 3rd round.

I'm hoping we use our next 3 picks to round out our O-line, grab a GOOD TE, or get some help in the secondary or at LB.

I would be ok drafting Josh Johnson or maybe Dennis Dixon on Day 2....4th-6th round.
