Hey all...Im a big WVU fan, and I wanted to get your thoughts on whether or not you view Pat White and Steve Slayton as viable NFL players. If Pat White stays ot WVU and develops further as a passer, I think he becomes very intriguing. Slayton is lacking in size...but the boy is fast. Lets hear your thoughts!!!!

Slaton will be a Top 5 pick. When he goes pro, he might be the best RB to enter the NFL since Reggie Bush

White will get tryouts as a kick returner or something

Right now Slaton does, but the best Pat White could hope for is to switch positions.

That's not a very attractive comparison right now, as Reggie hasn't really done much :D

Are you seroious???????

Taking into account all of the endorsement money, Bush is the richest rookie to ever enter the SPORT!!!! PERIOD!!

Yeah, he isn't doing much!!:shakeno: :shakeno:

Its funny you say your a mountaineer fan, but cannot even spell Steve Slatons name right. I say Steve will leave after his junior year. and be a top 5 pick. But with some other sophomore sensations this year also such as Ray Rice. He may be taken higher or lower because of that. Because in my opinion, steve slaton is the fastest running back in the game right now. and nobody can disagree with me on that one

For patrick white, he'll stay and graduate, while then he'll work on his passing game. And i think in the draft, he'll be one of the top choices for QB. look at mike vick. There is nothing mike vick can do that Pat White cant

They're both Sophomores who look to have incredibly bright futures, but it'll take time to see what they're really capable of doing. Personally, I think White will need to show much more to make it in the NFL -- his spead option has no real place in the NFL.

As for Slaton, I love him, but the dangerous offense he is a part of, mixed with a speedy, elusive QB certainly helps him out. I think he'll be a high pick, and a Heisman fave next season, but I like McFadden as a better pro back.

Making a lot of money makes him a great NFL player? Interesting.

And I wouldnt touch Pat White to play QB, and he wont be a top pick as a passer

Umm, yes, I am totally serious

You can make all the money in the world, it doesn't make you a good football player, it makes you a good marketing tool.

Yeah, he ISN'T doing much. What are his stats? 1 rush TD, one return TD and some VERY low yardage numbers. I'll take a guy that can produce in the game over a guy that makes millions in endorsement money any day :rolleyes2

I personally thank Reggie Bush was a bust this year. Not saying he wont ever turn good. But for this season so far, he's not doing jack

He's doing exactly what I expected him to do. I was a Reggie fan when he was in college, just because watching him play was awe-inspiring (I HATE USC with a passion otherwise), but I definately didn't think he would be tearing up the NFL like he did in college, as most people apparently did. This is by no means a knock on Reggie, the guy has an amazing gift, but not only is the level of play tougher and he doesn't have the size to get the tough yards up the middle, but he also doesn't have LenDale White to help change up the pace and make the D protect the inside as much, and he doesn't have Matt Leinert throwing to Dwayne Jarrett and the rest of the guys to make the Ds play the pass, thus opening up the run. NFL defenses know exactly what to expect from him, so they are able to contain him, just like my Longhorns were able to shut him down in the Rose Bowl :D.

I wish him the best and I hope in the future he ends up being Barry Sanders-esq, because I think the league needs a new flashy "little" back. We have LT, who is my favorite NFL player, and who is always entertaining to watch, but he is a bigger back, more like a power guy that has the moves of a smaller back, but I want another flashy small guy in the league, and I hope it's Reggie. Hell, it better be, he's the only real prospect that fits the mold right now, lol.

im going to go to the other side of this....

i love slaton and white as college players, but im not sure either will translate into the NFL. im not saying they WONT, im just saying i dont know.

and even if Slaton does stay till his senior year, hes going to be really raw entering the NFL because of the offense hes in.

i think if white works on his passing more when slaton leaves, he can become more of a passer. until then...he's not a NFL QB at all.
