http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2009/04/do-the-dolphins-really-need-another-receiver.html2. Receivers usually need some time to learn the offense, and feel comfortable enough to contribute regularly. Last season every player was learning the offense at the same pace, so first-year targets like Bess and Brandon London (his first year on the practice squad doesn't officially count in the NFL's eyes) were able to contribute early. But right now, every receiver on the roster is one year ahead of the newcomers.
The Dolphins will likely carry five receiver (at the most six) on the 53-man roster. Only four wide outs typically got put on the active roster last season, and it's going to be difficult for any rookie to unseat London for that final spot because of his special teams contributions. So with that said, there's a strong possibility any receiver drafted might sparingly contribute next season (unless there's an injury) because of this regime's play-count requirements.
Now that all the receivers know the O, will they be able to play faster and look better than they did last year... or can someone like Harkeen, still help because of his ability to break tackles..
