2. Receivers usually need some time to learn the offense, and feel comfortable enough to contribute regularly. Last season every player was learning the offense at the same pace, so first-year targets like Bess and Brandon London (his first year on the practice squad doesn't officially count in the NFL's eyes) were able to contribute early. But right now, every receiver on the roster is one year ahead of the newcomers.

The Dolphins will likely carry five receiver (at the most six) on the 53-man roster. Only four wide outs typically got put on the active roster last season, and it's going to be difficult for any rookie to unseat London for that final spot because of his special teams contributions. So with that said, there's a strong possibility any receiver drafted might sparingly contribute next season (unless there's an injury) because of this regime's play-count requirements.

Now that all the receivers know the O, will they be able to play faster and look better than they did last year... or can someone like Harkeen, still help because of his ability to break tackles..

Not really. They just need to trade Ginn and either through that trade or elsewhere get a big physical receiver with speed and hands.

Everyone keeps mentioning we need a true #1 receiver and I would agree. However, if we acquire that guy, I would feel better about having Bess and Camarillo as 2 and 3. I really feel we need to get those guys on the field plenty. Having Ginn still on the team if we acquire an elite guy just keeps those 2 guys back. I wouldnt mind having Ginn on the team still, its just I feel like we could get more value out of him by trading him than keeping him on the team as our #2 and therefore getting less snaps for Bess and Camarillo. I think those two guys are much better suited for those roles.

A guy Im starting to really like as our 2nd draft selection is that Massaquoi kid from Georgia. I feeling he could be a big time player in this league and he is used to catching balls from an NFL arm. He is big, tough, has great hands, and can make plays. Draft that guy in the 2nd round. I feel like he is = or better than Nicks and can be had at a later pick.

Drafting him and keeping Ginn would give us 4 talented guys at WR. However, as I was suggesting earlier, we could also try and trade Ginn, use that pick to upgrade another position and sign a FA vet to fill out the WR spots. I would be willing to accept even a 3rd round selection for Ginn, but would want a 2nd rounder. Not sure if we could get that for him, but a 2nd rounder next year seems possible.

Scouts have said that Hakeem Nicks is the one receiver in this draft that has Bill Parcells written all over him, and the Dolphins have not been hiding their level of interest in the first receiver to crack the 1,000 yard mark in UNC history.

Nicks, who set 14 school records in three seasons, has been extremely productive throughout his college seasons, catching 181 passes for 2,840 yards.

He knows how to get into the end zone, scoring 21 touchdowns as a Tar Heel, 12 his junior season.

He's got decent size (close to 6-foot-1, 212 pounds), which REALLY impressed me when I stood next to him at the combine. Not to mention respectable speed (4.49 in the 40), and great hands.

And most importantly, he has the one ingredient that this Dolphins receiver corp is missing: the shake and bake quickness, run after the catch ability needed to turn a short dig pass into a 20 or 30 yard gain.

I'm fine with the crew we got now and next year I think we are more likely to push for a big time #1 WR because then we can really use him in our Super Bowl run with Henne behind the Orca-5!*

*that one's for you Rio!

The Dolphins don't have to draft a moron WR with their 1st pick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't going to happen so stop writing like our FO guys are less intelligent than the players who scored below 15 on their wonderlics.

Yes a big, strong, fast receiver would fit nicely. Someone like Jared Cook who can lineup as a TE or a WR. Jamarko Simmons isn't just 6'2" 235 with 4.5 speed, he was a captain and team leader.

Parcell's wants smart, leader type guys with strong character.

Why do people on this site want to draft WR's who will take three years to learn the playbook??

It takes most WR's 2 or 3 years to produce the way it is. If you draft one with questionable IQ you are asking for trouble.

It would be nice to have a true #1 WR, to put Ginn where I think he belongs as a solid #2 WR, where he will not garnish too many double teams. This will allow Bess in the slot and WR4 and WR5 can be used for players transitioning to the NFL, ex.... Armstrong etc...

Yes I realize this puts Camarillo out of the picture, but bess and camarillo play the same roll for this team and I think in Bess would win that battle.

It doesnt take al receivers thee years and if thats true shouldnt we draft him now so he will be ready sooner lol. I still say take Nicks if he is there and I thinks its a logical possibility.
Yea and Im sure Nicks would have trouble making the roster because of Branon London lol.

Oh so your in the FO? I didnt know that. Whats your name again?

I just dont get how people can think we dont need another receiver.

Ginn- Not a #1
London- Unproven
Wilford- Worthless
Camarillo- Coming off a major knee injury
Bess- Excellent poss. WR, but not a #1

Yes. The Dolphins do need another WR.

Nicks is the real deal and if he's there at #25 I think Parcells and Co. would have to take a long hard look at him before drafting anyone else. I can't imagine there being a better player available if Nicks is still on the board. This of course is just my own opinion however....

Being the #1 or the #2 receiver is irrelevant when it comes to what kind of coverage a receiver will get from defenses. Defenses will still rotate their coverage to the more dangerous of the two or use more zone coverages to offset the threat that both receivers my bring to the table.

We have solid guys, with a solid QB, nothing more nothing less. It would be great to have someone that actually scared somebody.

The WR position is very, very overblown. We could use a tall, strong type of reciever, I agree. But I just don't get all these people thinking our WR position is so bad we need to draft one with our 1st rounder. Anyone who knows the Dolphins knows OLB, CB, NT, and perhaps even ILB are all bigger needs than WR. So to answer the question, yes, we could use another receiver, but we don't need one desperately enough to use anything greater than a 3rd rounder on one. We will not draft a WR with the 1st pick, I am willing to bet everything on that. There are a ton of very talented recievers to be had in the later rounds. Ramses Barden (one of my personal favorites), Aaron Kelly, Juaquin Igesias, Mohamed Massaquoi, Brandon Tate, Johnny Knox, Louis Murphy, Marko Mitchell, Patrick Turner. Also a few possible UDFA's to look for in Dominque Edison, Greg Orton, Jaison Wiliiams, Brian Hartline, Isaiah Williams. There are just so many WR's coming out this year to take one in the 1st or 2nd round. Possibly even the 3rd.
