This whole Pennington thing bugs me. The Packers refused to release Favre, because even though there are committed to Aaron Rodgers, the know Brett still has some game. They did not want him ending up with a division rival, so they stood firm and traded him to a team outside of the division. This was very smart on their part, plus they actually got something in return for him.
So, knowing there is a strong chance that Pennington ends up with their division rival Dolphins, why do they simply release him? Why not trade him? Am I missing something here, or do they know something we don't? If the guy had anything left in the tank, I think they would have done more to keep him away from division rivals, where he could come back to bit them. I think Pennington is washed up. I think he has run his course and the Jets know it. They don't care where he ends up, because they know he can't hurt them. I think it is a mistake to bring him in. We have two young, talented QBs and we are in a position where nobobdy expects much from us. I'd rather go 4-12, while learning what we have from each of our young QB's than go 5-11 or even 6-10 with a QB that seems to be at the end of his career.
Didn't we try this last year?
