PFF on the the weakest units in the league

I'm buying and think the way to fix this is 2 OL in top 3 or 4 picks

Increase your odds by taking the best possible swing guy who can play LG right away-Banks, Conerly, Zabel or Jackson, come back later and get a guard who can also contribute soon, if not right away.

Here's the write up from PFF:

MIAMI DOLPHINS‘ OFFENSIVE LINE

The Dolphins' offensive line has endured issues in recent years, especially due to a lack of depth after injuries. However, the situation worsened this offseason after the unit lost its best player, left tackle Terron Armstead, to retirement. Even though Armstead was often injured, his presence still elevated this offensive line to at least an average level.

The current projected starting lineup of Patrick Paul, Liam Eichenberg, Aaron Brewer, James Daniels and Austin Jackson is not very encouraging. Admittedly, Brewer has shown above-average play in recent seasons, but Daniels missed almost the entire season with the Steelers in 2024, and Eichenberg, Paul and Jackson all failed to earn a PFF overall grade above 60.0 last season.

Unfortunately for PFF Paul was drafted to start, he is a second round pick. He will start regardless of what PFF thinks.
I doubt EIch will start at LG. The starting line up right now is Paul, Daniels, Brewer, Borom, Jackson. Fins just acquired two startgin guards in FA, Daniels and Borom. I doubt they will make guard a priority in the draft. Also Paul and Jackson and Brewer are penciled starters.
I would draft Oline, a guard and a tackle, but not on day 1 or 2.

The uncertainty with Paul is what makes addressing the left side of the OL difficult.

Do we hedge our bets and draft Banks at 13, move him to LG. If Paul plays well then leave Banks at LG. If Paul struggles then move Banks back to LT.

Then what do we do at LG. It appears we are not going to sign Scherff so we will have to also draft an OG.

Daniels signed for RG?

Ok, you might be right. Grier has shown an uncanny ability to avoid doing the right thing but as a former "don't take an OL until the 3rd round or until you have to" guy, I have to admit I was wrong and Grier has been dead wrong.

I don't like our odds at all of landing a starting OL, which is still the weakest link on this team, if we don't take one in the first round.

we could get a decent guard in round 2 with Ratledge or Jonah Savaiinaea but I think there's going to be a run imo at the top of the second along with a possible run at the end of round 1.
Gotta say I think I like Daniels but his injury, AJs injury history and the unknown qty that is Pat Paul makes me want to draft a swing tackle who can start at guard right away.

I think we have to bolster the DT spot, the secondary and OL and this is a trenches draft imo, but I have a lot more confidence the DT prospects run deeper than the starting caliber OL in this draft.

Then if we take Banks or similar the guy we signed for 24 million goes to RG as planned and Banks to LG.
True but this is assuming Paul plays well at LT in which case Banks can stay at LG.

If Paul is a bust or plays poorly then we will have to move Banks back to LT then were stuck with either Liam or Borom at LG unless we add another OG in FA or the draft.

Yeah I think we are all aware of the ifs.

Maybe we add some help in FA. Don't see us spending more than one of our higher picks on more than one OL prospect.

I would think they would put Daniels at LG so Pauk has a Vet next to him.

Put the rookie at RG between Brewer and AJAX.

I like that idea.

A player I would like for that role is Emory Jones Jr. from LSU. He is a physical RT who figures to have to move to OG in the NFL.

He might still be available with pick 98.

Paul, Daniels, Brewer, Jones and Jackson should be a decent OL.

Then draft an OT in the mid rounds maybe somebody like Hollin Pierce to be our backup swing OT.

Starting OL is set for the Dolphins, Paul, Jackson, Brewer, and two FA guards they signed, Daniels and Borom.

There are definitely questions on the offensive line, but more on the defensive side.

Sieler is the only starting caliber defensive tackle on the roster. Phillips and Chubb are both fighting back from injuries. Their long-term futures are uncertain. Robinson had a very encouraging rookie season, but can he improve versus the run? Or is he just a pass rush specialist, which of course is valuable.

The Dolphins need an upgrade at LG and roll with Paul. The defensive line needs a major overhaul. Two starters and more depth.

I have liked the idea of moving Emory Jones to OG for quite a while.

He did not like up to the preseason hype as an OT but I always thought he would transition inside at the NFL level anyway.

He could be a R3 target.

He reminds me of Robert Hunt. A big physical OT in college who figures to kick inside to OG in the NFL.

He certainly has enough athleticism since he played RT in college and he has more than enough physicality to play OG.

He has good measurables also 6'5 315 and 34.25" arms which are good for an OT and great for an OG.

I have seen him available at 98 in the many mock simulations that I do. I think that mainly has to do with most NFL scouts believing he is an OG instead of an OT.
