Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
With every signing there is a meesage board fool of negativity and skepticism about what our front office is doing. There was a major uproar about the lack of activity which our front office particpated in. You guys seem to forget the big picture and the plan. Bills Parcells didn't come here to build a team to win the Super-Bowl in 2009, he came here to build a franchise which will be succesful for years to come. Parcells inherited a 1-15 football team that was full of over the hill veterans and people who have no business playing on Sundays. Parcells grought in his guys in Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano because they share the same idealities. In his intital press conference Parcells stated the importance of building a complete 53 man roster to be succesful in this league.
Not every player we sign is going to be the next Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, or Jerry Rice and what has Bill Parcells done to lose our trust? The only bad move which I have seen was the Ernest Wilford signing. But how can a man who turned a 1-15 team into AFC East Division Champions receive any criticism or doubt? The draft that Parcells and Ireland put together was absolutly phenomenal. First, we took Jake Long with the #1 pick which gave us a Left tackle we lacked since Richmond Webb left Miami and not to mention Jake Long played in Hawaii in his rookie year. Round two saw us get Phil Merling who is going to be the best player from this draft class and Chad Henne, our Quarterback in 2010 and way beyond. Kendall Langford in Round 3 was a steal because this guy is certainly a first round talent. Shawn Murphy in Round 4 was a bit of a reach for a project. BUT Shawn Murphy was just a rookie and has been working hard in the weight room and all NFL Draft experts picked Shawn Murphy as a top 5 Guard in the draft class. Donald Thomas was the best guard in this draft and fell due to his inexperience. He was a starter until get hot injured and the guy plays with a physicality that is unmatchable.
My question is what signing was bad this free agency period? We started but upgrading ovver Renaldo Hill and locking up Gibril Wilson. I remeber after the Giants won the Super-Bowl these same message boards were sweating Gibril Wilson. This guy is a Pro-Bowl level talent at Free Safety. The Dolphins also kept their own stars in Vernon Carey, Channing Crowder, and Yeremiah Bell. The Dolphins signed Joe Berger for depth at Guard and Center and this guy is much better than Andy Allemen, Ikechuku Ndukwe, or Brandon Frye. The Dolphins signed Jake Grove to a lucrative deal and to many of your disbeliefs, Grove is a better Center than Samson Satele. Jake Grove is the excapt recipe to complete the youngest and soon to be dominant Offensive Line that we have built. Long-Smiley-Grove-Thomas-Carey w/ Satele, Berger backing up. Wow! Simply phenomenal. Grove is vocal leader and this dude is just mean. Eric Green was siigned andd everyone was upset we didn't get the likes of Leigh Boddon. Boddon was chased out of Cleveland and Detroit so he must not be that spectacular. Eric Green is a solid football player and while he is not Nnamdi Asomugha, he will be a guy who will provide solid play in Nickel and Dime Situations. Ken Lucas is out there and we still have the draft so keep the panties unbunched for now. Right now we have Will Allen, Nate Jones, Eric Green, and Jason Allen on the roster. If we sign Ken Lucas and draf a corner than Jason Allen is on the outs. I like Allen and think we should give him a chance before we toss him in front of the bus because this guy has made plays for us whenever given the chance.
Sorry if I come off like a !@#$ but I am just tired of the criticism to our football team because they are a better team on March 13th than they were when the Ravens owned them in the Wild-Card game.
