I Do. I tell the wife this is the one weekend that I dont want to be bothered, no kids no chores nothing! I start by waking up at 7am going to get a cup of coffee wearing dolphin stuff from head to toe, generally become engaged in conversation about the draft at the gas station....no starbuck for FKA. Go home, break out the whiteboard at around8am and begin to setup what i think is gonna happen. The boys come over around 11 with the draft day Keg. We crack into that in anticipation. The reason I ask this question is because this year it starts at 3 pm instead of noon. Does anyone have a standard operating procedure for draft day? I would like to hear other peoples routines.

"Sitting on my couch in front of my bigscreen TV with a beer in one hand and scratching my balls with the other".

Perfect !!

-ex-dolphin Kim Bokamper said that once over the radio- many years ago. I've done it many years since, and it's the best.

I actually will run some errands and get stuff done for a bit during it. When you come back, the picks are right there anyway. I am going to try and have the radio on at all times, and be done with everything before round 2. But getting up at 7am with fins gear...thats hardcore..lol! Ill be asleep and most likely hungover at that hour.

I left out scratching my balls, that is a very important part.

i wake up in the morning....eat some cereal, drink some coffee....then i proceed to do any errands/chores that need to be done......if the day is nice i go outside and enjoy it..........then i go pick up my girlfriend and proceed to have my way with her......then i drop her off and go to bed.......the next day, i wake up and read in the paper who the dolphins got, along with who everyone else got....................then i go on with my life

Wake up, do my normal morning, put on my Dolphins' gear, put the wife in Dolphins' gear, welcome my friend over with his Browns' gear, go to Buffalo Wild Wings and order a crap ton of food togo, and go home a watch it. We talk football all day. It's great!

Don't really follow a routine but this year I am picking up a Sam's Club pizza, a case of snapple, making nachos with just about everything on them and enjoying every single pick of day one.

Yeah, most years it's moving anything I can throw into the TV set away from myself and trying not to hurl after we select.

I have hopes for this regime to bring me happy draft days though.

Food & beverages... beer. This year I think the main course will be a frozen lasagna. Hey, it's easy, which counts for something. Various pretzel/chip combinations, & salsa.

Communications Center... in the "just glad it still works/money's tight" category, a 27" Sony with a poor man's home theater... a 100W speaker in every corner of the living room plus a pair of floor speakers on either side of the entertainment center. Payback to my neighbors for slamming doors at 4am... they always know when it's Draft Day or the Daytona 500. Internet with a bazillion browser windows open... window #1 is FinHeaven. Espn radio for when ESPN is on a commercial break.

Apparel... dolphin jersey, of course. Probably #54 in honor of ZT before he officially dons the uni of a different team in a real game. Someone stole my Dolphin hat. Must be replaced, but I haven't found one I liked as much as the one I lost. Doesn't that figure. I will probably wear pants.

Safety precautions... remove all sharp objects in case Miami packages all their picks and moves up for someone we could have signed as a street free agent.

Expectations... a damn good time.

LMAO so im not the only one who does that :). My routine would be wake up, shower, GYM, draft, then create the players in Madden 08(dolphins drafteed players will be rated higher).

Sweet. I will break out my Jason Taylor jersey and hope he is traded.

Tonight I go to the store and get the stuff for my spread.

Sliced ham, roast beef, baby swiss cheese, sandwich buns, doritos, ruffles chips, onion dip, crackers, cheese spread, honey chicken wings & bbq spare ribs from the chinese joint, The Canton. Tons of beer, this year I am going with Dos Equxxes (you know, the one "the most interesting man in the world" drinks )

Also I change the batteries in the remote just to make sure. Turn off the cell phone, and turn off the ringer on the regular phone.

Then plotz in front of the TV and get that wide-eyed look, as my brother, and my two best friends come over and we yell, groan, and throw things at the TV as the Dolphins make stupid pick after stupid pick. Hopefully that will change this year :hi5:

Go to bed and then do it all over again for Sunday. I actually find Sunday to be more compelling as that is the day the real work of the draft is done. Guys taken in the 1st & 2nd rounds are expected to be playmakers, its the hidden gems, and the guys that fall and land in your lap that make Sunday a lot of fun on draft weekend.

Well I'm glad you said that it starts at 3:00pm (coverage starts at 2:30pm), I assumed it was still at 12 Noon... Kind of throws a monkey wrench in my plans for the day, but should be easy enough to over come.

I plan on stopping by Barnacles in Brandon to watch about an hour of the draft with some fellow Tampa Dol-Fans... then head home, pick up my spread Sams Dolphins cake, Sams Pizza, Chinese Food, Sushi, Chips, Salsa, Cheese, a party sub and last but not least a mess-o beer and sit around and watch another 2-3 hours of the draft and then go do something to keep the misses from getting mad.

I really don't make draft plans that often, I tend to get bored after the first 15 picks, and in years past have decided to not even watch it during the Wanny, Saban years... after JJ left there was no reason to watch.

I agree about the excitement in landing the gems. But the thing I hate about Day Two is that, except for maybe a dozen players, everybody on ESPN (except Mel) has already hit the bone dry end of their knowledge pool, and they just keep rehashing the same crap. It might be the third round and you're lucky if they flash your team's pick up there on that screen with the last five selections. If somebody mumbles "more help for the Dolphins offensive line" you're lucky.

They also need to keep the ticker running during the commercials. You wait for them to get to the Dolphins, and then they go to a commercial break and are on a different team when they come back. :shakeno:
