Do you have DirecTv (Sunday Ticket) and not have CBS right now?

I posted this on a couple of other threads with little response so I figured I'd start my own. I didn't see it posted before me so if I did duplicate this, I sincerely I apologize.
I live in SC, just south of Charlotte, NC, and right now CBS is not available. CBS and DirecTv are butting heads on their contract and because (what DirecTv told me last night) CBS is trying to double their cost, the channel isn't available.

This is more significant than just losing your one local channel...Any Sunday Ticket game hosted by a CBS station won't be showing the game, which are the majority of all Dolphins and AFC games. And because your local bar probably has Sunday Ticket, they won't have the game either.

From what the DirecTv lady told me last night, different areas may have it worse with NBC and ABC included or you may be 100% ok but I wanted to post this so you could check your TV ASAP. There is a chance they will work it out before Sunday but I haven't had CBS for close to 2 weeks with our first game a couple of days away.

And this is why people are resorting to online video rather than deal with this every year.

Every single year that I've had directv, they're been some dispute with a channel that's not happy with how much they are getting paid. It's getting ridiculous.

I had to stream the packers game tonight because nbc is blacked out with directv.

I have both CBS and NBC right now. So I assume I'm safe???

What is the NBC deal? And if you don't have CBS, why do I have it here in the NE?

That's the part I didn't really dig into because I have NBC but because CBS is crucial to Sunday Ticket and the Dolphins, I only cared about that. I just picked up on the customer service lady telling me it's all different in different regions.

I would think you're ok if you are now but I would probably check your local channels daily just to make sure.

I had this happen a year ago with my local Fox station. Another time I lost Comedy Central for a few days. It typically affects a group of local stations under one parent owner. In this case with CBS, there might be a few different CBS providers that are in the dark right now. There are probably spots throughout the country dealing with this, but the majority are still in the clear. I still have mine, but I do sympathize with you because I have had this problem in the past. It sucks. Sometimes it might last a couple days, or in the case of Comedy Central for me, it was over a week.

You don't have it because it's a different contract. Each affiliate has different contracts with directv. So if you have the Sunday Ticket, you'll get the game.

I have had this on a smaller scale as well, but this is gonna suck big time if they don't work it out very quickly....I have friends and family in Charlotte down to my parents in Columbia (hour and a half away) and none of us have CBS right now. Not sure how far or what determines who is or isn't effected. I just wanted to post this to give people the head sip if they didn't realize.

The dispute is between Directv and Raycom. 53 stations across the country(including areas in NC) are being impacted. If none of your local channels are owned by Raycom, it won't be a problem for you. If you have all your channels tonight you are good for Sunday. For those that don't have them, hopefully Directv and Raycom come to an agreement before Sunday.

With that said, I am not sure you would have that problem with the Sunday Ticket subscription. Only your local CBS is affected, not the CBS the Dolphin game is on.

I sincerely hope you're right....The girl I spoke to didn't seem to think I would have the game (not that she seemed brilliant) nor did the person my buddy spoke to but Lord I hope you are correct.

Thanks for the info

If a deal is not reached, you will indeed be affected. While it is true that the actual CBS feed of the Dolphins/Pats game is impacted in no way, your ability to get it on your tv most definitely will. The deal between the NFL, CBS, Fox, DirecTV etc mandates that whichever game(s) are picked to be shown in your market area on your local CBS and Fox affiliate channels every Sunday MUST be blacked out on the Sunday Ticket "channel" version. That has everything to do with where you live and which games are selected to be shown in which parts of the country-nothing less, nothing more.
If you do not have the CBS local channel and Dolphins/Pats is chosen as your local market game for that time slot, then you are **** out of luck, unfortunately. The Sunday Ticket feed (which will be on channel 710 this week I believe) will simply display a black screen with an overlay message about it being blacked out in your area.

You only lose your local game.

In Savannah Raycom owns WTOC, our CBS affiliate. We won't have the Jags game on this week as that is our "local" team. That game is blacked out on Sunday Ticket here and so it won't be seen in this market if you have Directv.

All the other games on Sunday Ticket for CBS are available for viewing.

That's the way I sadly understod it as well....Which is why i think it's sad DirecTv has still been billing me full and didnt even send an email giving me a heads up on this.

If all you want is your local NBC/CBS/Fox stations, then just spend $10 on this
