Just a thought as I watched him get beat for: a touchdown, 6 completions or a penalty.

Not quite. Surtain makes about $2 mill more a season.

Poole & Daniels will turn out to be just as good if not better than Madison&Surtain

dont forget we got a 2nd round pick also

thanks for reminding me, so does Howard+Roth+the $3.7 million=Surtain?

Thats saying alot considering that Poole and Daniels were both 4th round picks while Madison and Surtain were both 2nd rounders. Not to mention that Poole really has to bounce back from that harrible injury.

BTW- For anyone who knows anything about injuries and all that stuff, Do you think that Poole can bouce back 100% or do you think he will be slower and not able to make cuts and all as he was able to do back in college. Thats the only thing that scares me about Poole, that he will come back from that injury and not be as good as he was before.

The idea was that Surtains contract would have been up at the end of this season, and we wouldnt be willing to pay him what he would have been looking for. Your also forgeting the 2nd round pick in that equation.

He will be 100% eventually, but it takes time with an ACL injury. We won't see him on the field this year, and that's a good thing. He probably won't be fully recovered in '06, but he'll be close. We are lucky he injured it so early.

That's a HUGE leap of faith.....

Madison and Surtain were absolute lock-down corners in their primes'.

Daniels will be a very good corner...... Do you think we will spend next years 1st round pick on a DB?

I thought we could have re-done Surtain's deal. We would have beaten the Jets if we had him.

With Daniels, Sam and Poole? I don't think we go corner that high but you can bet Saban will look defensive back on day one.

We need a young Q.B., left tackle, defensive tackle and another reciever before the secondary gets adressed in my opinion.
