What do you actually expect them to do? Pick who you like, run the plays you like, or, doing a better job than those from last year with more talent?

While we have weaknesses on offense a good scheme can hide some of those weaknesses. If a GM works well with the coaching staff it will put us in better situations personnel wise.

Example: Joe Philbin and his staff reportedly loved Lavonte David in the 2012 draft and asked Ireland to try to trade up to get him. Ireland said David was "too small"

We know now that Ireland picked players regardless if we needed them or if they fit our system. It is now established that Ireland went against the wishes of our head coach.
We also know that Sherman was the one calling the plays with little or no input by Philbin. The only reason I see that Philbin did not want to fire his OC because Sherman used to be his mentor and boss. While hiring friends and former HC into a coordinator position and firing them is tough already, hiring someone below you did not only consider friend and former boss but also your mentor is probably the toughest thing to do. I am sure Philbin envisioned this gig as well.

As much as I ragged on Philbin this year but learning about the snake-like mentality of Ireland and that Sherman was the evil on offense Philbin should get a chance with a new OC and a new GM. I personally think it will make a huge difference next year.

And he is a pretty darn good linebacker with a very promising future @ 6'1" and 235 lbs.

Honestly the difference CAN be huge. I truly believe so much of this game is running a great scheme. We haven't had that for a looooong time, if we bring in a quality OC you'll see teams less talented than the one we fielded last year win more games.

arguably the person drafting college players, signing UDFA, and identifying veteran free agents to add to the roster is the most important person in the organization, and has the most impact on the team's success for years and years going forward (or has most responsibility for failure). an excellent OC with a brilliant mind for offensive football and some innovation wouldn't hurt either.

Kudos to those with more patience and understanding than I. I just can't take this thread seriously.

sure it will make a difference, A young oc with fresh ideas and philosophies can use our existing talent to create mismatches, it seemed Sherman wasn't capable of doing such a thing. We should have been moving wallace the whole season, using motion pre snap to dictate more desirable coverages, and using Tannehills ability to throw on the run and his athleticism to our advantage. A better OC this year could have very well put us in the playoffs. A new GM could almost instantly pump this team full of young talent with a good draft this year. trade some existing talent that doesn't necessarily fit our desired style of play and load up on some picks. This offseason could be more fun than the last.

Talent period! That is all I want the GM to do!

I want elite talent or at least elite prospects, I don't want a GM that passes on an Earl Thomas so he can acquire two average starters. QUALITY over quantity please, it's a simple concept that Ireland seemed to have issues with

Watching Thomas play tonight makes me sick. Good job Ireland.
