And because of that, we're jeopardizing our other free agent targets?

Many of our hopefuls have been snatched away from us. Makewhatever from the Ravens got signed. Givens and Adams are drawing more interest by the minute. Tampa Bay may sign Ashworth tonight.

I know I want Brees, but I don't want to sit back and wait for Brees while all the good players in the other positions are being snagged.

I think it's plan C as in Culpepper!!

if brees does not sign tonight we can not afford to wait while he goes to visit other teams. we must trade for Culpepper the minute Brees shows uncertainty

I think that the other FA's are dependent on whether we get a QB, so I'm not that upset if we wait just a little longer, into tomorrow even. I just wish this would end and he would make a decision about it tonight. :tantrum:

From what I've heard, the meeting wasn't until 3pm today. Whose to say we're not still meeting with him?
Relax. We'll get our news soon.

A concern of mine also but we have not lost anybody I really think we wanted yet. Saban is not going to rush into things. It is not his style. He usually gets who he wants and the way he carries himself has alot to do with his success. We will get the majority of the players we really want. He wants a franchise Qb that we have all been waiting for since Dan the man left and will fork out the money get him. The rest will be role players with a couple bigger names. I have faith.

you ain mentioned 1 good player there all mediocre:cooldude:

We need to pick up Julian Peterson first. Get Culpepper as a fill for the next year or so, and draft a QB. Brees is good, but he's short and throws some ridiculous interceptions.

We need to make sure we get the QB before we spend another dime and then we will know what else we have to do to sign more FA's. Until we know what we pay for our QB we really can't sign anyone else.

Brees is also having dinner with Dolphons offcials and he will meet with Mueller tomorrow.

I think the Phins will know by the end of the day on Monday where they sit with Brees. If he is not inked by Monday Night I think you go after Culpepper or McCown. Monday night is the deadline.:dolphins:

Heres an update that i got from one of the Chargers forums

Dolphins | Team officials dining with Brees
Sun, 12 Mar 2006 17:20:36 -0800

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers) flew to South Florida Sunday afternoon, March 12, to meet with Miami Dolphins officials, agent Tom Condon said. "He's going to dinner with club officials tonight and I'm sure I'll talk to Randy (Mueller) tomorrow," said Condon, referring to the Dolphins' general manager. Brees said he is not rushing to sign with a new team. "I'm not going to rush it because this is a big decision. Wherever I sign is where I plan on spending the rest of my career and winning a few championships in the process and raising a family and everything else. It's more than just a one-year thing," said Brees.

I agree...I know we have to trust that Saban and Co. will make the right decisions, but we cant continue to screw around waiting on Brees or any other FA for that matter... he's a good, possibly great QB, but not elite and certainly not worth losing out on a lot of other potential Fins in FA... I like the guy, but there is NO guarantee he will be a Fin next year, and because of that, I would rather we add more depth and better quality to the team on the chance we have to have Gus start for us again next year
