a straight forward offense? I am all for using the wildcat for a few plays a game but what is bothering me is using Pat White in the game period. I mean once White comes into the game, teams KNOW the wildcat is coming. Why don't we line up white out at wideout and let him run a few routes as a straight forward offense. Then break him out of the huddle as a qb so the defense can get a different look.

Also I like Ronnie Brown a lot, I really do but I just don't see it that much from this guy as he hasn't been given a chance. I don't blame it on him though, as 10 carries a game, especially from a line that couldn't block for anything on sunday. I don't think we are using brown correctly. Brown should be lining it up and pounding the rock. I don't get all these gimmick plays in our playbook. Brown could be similar to a michael westbrook. I mean the guy can catch. No reason why we can't run screens and passes into the flats for him. Maybe I am missing something but when was the last time we ran a rb screen?? Wideout screens to ginn and bess, yes but IMO we are wasting a talent in brown.

I just don't get it. Line the guys up in a conventional offense and play the game. Stop it with this gimmick crap. If my memory serves me correctly, brown really started to come alive after 15 carries or so. Then we can go change of pace with ricky and cobbs.

I am not happy with the way this offense is running right now. You look around the league and we are the only team that does this crap. Remember when ricky ran for 1800+ yards? It sure as in the heck didn't come from draws and fakes.....

This team has no offensive identity IMO. They don't know what they are and it appears that henning just is searching for the next wildcat wrinkle that can get him on sportscenter.

I dunno about the rest of you but if I am tired of losing. Sure it is the first game of the season and the offense may lag the defense for the first week but as a dolphins fan since the early 80's, I just cannot stomach much more of the lack of continuity on different areas of the game that seems to be a common theme at times with us. It is no different than having tom olivadotti (sp?) on the team knowing that we are going to have to score 40+ points to win a game. Does anyone else get worried when chad drops back to throw a pass? I am tired of feeling like that.

Lets get it done this week guys!

On another note, please can the homers give me more "bad rep" points. Again if you don't drink the kool-aid and say rosy things about the team, your a bad fan...get over yourselves and wake up...

I know exactly what you mean; you're not the only one who feels this way.

The thing is, being on Monday night football with millions of people watching, Dan Henning will want to unveil more wrinkles to the wildcat against the colts.

Totally concur, run the base offense and let the wildcat go.

I don't think people will be saying this once Pat White breaks one for a game changing or game winning touchdown.

Yeah that will last for about 4 seconds until the next time he overthrows a wide open ted ginn. IMO, I love the wildcat as a weapon in your back pocket but this isn't the NCAA. This isn't going to work as a base offense against the top teams in the league and heck ask jordan babaneux (sp?) or john abraham or the rest of the dirty birds how well that crap worked.

IMO it is pretty sad when you have to run a gimmicky offense because your trying to hid your weaknesses. We are setting ourselves back a few years IMO by doing this. It appears as usual, the trend for the past 10 years is to build the defense and let the offense just do whatever. Funny thing is that this offense doesn't resemble anything like a dallas, giants, new england or jets offense that parcells was a part of. I know he doesn't run the team but then again I didn't see tony romo doing this in dallas either.

All I am asking for is consistency. Did they ever stop to think that maybe with all the wildcat crap in the gameplan that the o-lineman are getting confused on their assignments? I mean we have ginn who can stretch the field, camarillo who can line up as a number two and bess who can be the 3rd/slot guy. Let them line up and run routes. Put fasano in to run medium to short square outs and slants. You know, "normal" stuff. Then give ronnie 20 carries a game and change it up with ricky for 10 carries a game. How can you have any kind of consistency when your constantly drawing up backyard plays that really are meant to drive the nail in the coffin when your up by 10 points and their defense is winded and desperate.

I can take a loss if we tried to run a consistent offense and it was shut down against a good defense. I have a HARD time swallowing an offense that ran nothing but gimmick plays and inside handoffs that generally doesn't work as a base offense.

Sorry guys, as a very long time dolphins fan I am tired of this crap. I know...I know...say it is "just" the first game and there is plenty more to come. We will see.

we finally get some creativity to open up our offense....and people want to go back to Wanny-ball....unbelievable.

I forget, what was our longest play of the day on Sunday....the throwback to Pennington that went for 21 yards to Haynos? Yeah...those 'gimmicky' plays suck!

Are you blind? Who said anything about wanny ball? This isn't ncaa 2010 for playstation. How can you open up an offense when there is no offensive identity to begin with?

Look around the league. Guess what other teams do? The go out in a base 2-3 wideout set with a back in the backfield and they line it up and smash the rock with sweeps and run downhill between the tackles. None of this inside handoff-misdirection-motion-who is penny going to give the ball too its polite up the middle for 2.5 yards- crap.

All I am saying is you have a wideout who can beat the majority of dback in the game speed for speed. You two very good possession receivers and bess and camarillo and you have a tight end who can catch the ball and yet your going to draw up a madden create your own play? I am all for that when it is appropriate but who are we trying to fool? Sure didn't work last sunday.

we didn't lose because of the wildcat.
We lost because we enjoyed giving the Falcons the ball.
We need to have the ball if we want to win.
4 turnovers will never get you a win in the NFL.

Some of you are funny... the wildcat is far from our base offense.

sure didn't look that way sunday...Oh I get it now. We were coming out with our wildcat/send 10 guys in motion play packages for the majority of the game so when we play the colts they are going to really ramp up against an offense that could barely muster a td against a supposedly porous ATL secondary, so that we can run a "traditional" base offense with actual conventional 3-5-7 step drop downfield passes and run between the tackles and guards and annihilate them.

I get it now. Thanks for the clarification. Sorry but some of us "bad" fans are pretty upset from the past performance. Not because we didn't win but rather how we lost...

Which means running the rock in a conventional way IMO as well as utilizing a base offense that every other team in the nfl runs. Maybe I was blind during this game because of emotions but I saw a ton of wildcat esque plays in addition to the traditional wildcat ones but very little conventional play calling.

As stated before, we are wasting RB's talent. With our backfield of cobbs, ricky and ronnie, we should be a pretty good running team.

Did you really watch the game? The Phins didn't run the Wildcat package the majority of the game, not even close.

going back to even last year....our big plays have resulted in what people like to call 'gimmicks'....so why eliminate that element of our offense? You don't like the inside handoff to Polite? It went for 9 yards the first attempt....the problem arose trying to sneak it past them twice in a row...that was dumb.
