Does Anyone Know The Answer To This Question?

When was the last time our scouting department was revamped? And by revamped I mean completely overhauled. 100% changed for different prospects.

The reason I ask is because I recently found out that Chris Grier is a former scouting department guy who was promoted due to his prowess... but this scouting department has been atrocious for decades. If we are promoting from within and continue to have the same scouts, then even any new GM would get bad info from his scouts, continuing the horrible personnel decisions that have plagued this team.

I ask this because if we do get a new coach and GM, then we should also get a completely new scouting department. Maybe I am wrong and it was changed recently, but god it sure doesnt feel like it has.
 
You can have the best scouts in the world. If the GM sucks it doesn’t matter who the scouts are.
 
I believe Saban completely rebuilt the scouting department.

And a followup. How often does a team fire all the scouts and start over, and which teams have done it?
 
Terry Bradway: fired Jets GM and then scout is a "Sr Scout"
Joe Vitt, old school Saints under-coach is "Sr Director Fooball AND Player Development

Bradway = Tannenbum nepotism
Vitt = Gase father in law/nepotism

They both should be kicked to the curb!
 
I would be careful with the assumption that the scouting department is terrible. Sometimes not hitting on draft picks comes down to the GM not making the right picks, sometimes it's poor player development due to deficiencies by the coaching staff.
 
I’d look into the strength and conditioning program as well, or at least hire an exorcist to do something about all the injuries.
 
TBum replaced a few scouts if I remember. Kinda believe/recall overlord Parcells with an assist by Ireland tweaked the scouts as well.

That said, I doubt THAT is our real problem. Tho of course it could be improved I'm sure.

The bigger problem, IMO, relates to the "value assessment" of what the scouts produce coupled with the long-range plan for building the roster out -- including positional priorities and how to best integrate the AVAILABLE talent into a coherent, high-performance product.

I think we have failed in the latter category pretty consistently.
 
The entire FO in every way needs to be replaced and possibly need a new owner too.
 
yes but gm or coach still have final say so on who they want pick. it not scout department to blame.
