so will we?? everyone is all about brown..but 2 b frank he has'nt put up starter numbers..do hate he has been productive in the wildcat.but i'm talkin about rushing..we need a 1000yd back..any thoughts?? is brown elite ??

I would say recovering from a knee injury and considering the revolving doors we had up fron along with splitting carries with ricky and occasionally cobbs, i think he did pretty well. I think he know his performance this season will determind if he's resigned or not. Im pretty confident we will draft a Rb, just not on the first day.

And here we go.

No, we don't need to draft a RB. We don't need a 1K yard back. We've got that with Brown. We need a 12-1300 yard back. Brown cuts it fine, and, we don't need to waste draft picks on RBs at this stage. I'm fine going into this year with Brown, Williams, and Cobbs.

He had a pro bowl season, less then a year after shreading his ACL. The reason he doesn't put up the yardage is because he has Ricky taking away carries. In today's NFL, it is better to have two guys that can carry the ball then one. Keeps Ronnie freash and healthy.

bla bla bla. we have so many needs that we'll sign a RB! just where we're covered at... and yes! to replace ronnie brown! ... come on...

not try 2 start an argument about brown..
it's a make or break year for him..
i think we will draft a rb..because bp will have
a back up plan if brown bombs this year.
d's can defend wildcat,if brown stays he will have 2 prove himself now.
he was drafted high..

When the draft used to be twelve rounds, I advocated taking a RB every single year. Not early, necessarily, but I'd definitely take one. If the guy is fast, strong, and likes to hit people he can at least play on special teams. Let him develop and see how he fits into your plans at the RB position. Every once in a while you'll get lucky with a late round back with starting ability, and the benefit can be tremendous and immediate.

But now that we're down to seven round drafts, you don't have as many picks, and you can't really afford the luxury of taking a flyer on a guy at a position that isn't an obvious need. Guys are available in FA in the days after the draft that you used to have to spend a pick on. Now you can recruit them ahead of time and save the pick.

i think they may on the second day. foster from tenn. or somone

not about yds??
what??

It's not ALL about the yards. It's about being able to block, and catch as well as run. Most running backs are asked to do many things, and, the ones that can only do one thing well don't usually hang around unless they do it particularly well. Brown has all the tools to do everything reasonably well. He's at least in the top 15 backs in the NFL. BP took 3 running backs in the draft last year and, look where they are now.

The Dolphins backfield next year will be Brown, Williams and, Cobbs, like it or not.

Drafting a RB is not a bad question. But as far as Ronnie, he did rather well with a young OL and coming off knee problem. Our OL should be much better this year and should open holes. I thought RB did a very good job last year and he lays the wood.

But the question is should we draft another RB. Well both RB and RW are FA next year, so we may need to look at one in the draft. Maybe we sign both long term, or let one go and draft one,....or RW takes out the bong again and that pretty much seals the deal.

We also have two TE's that are FA's next year, another draft pick????

Brown is one of the top backs in the NFL, its not his fault our O-Lines and Coaching staffs of the past have blown. He averaged over 4 yards a pop with an injured interior line and only a year after an ACL injury. If you don't know the story behind the stats they mean nothing. Brown is a 1,000 yard back and you know it, besides we have too many other needs to take care of early in the draft.

what??
Ronnie is a versatile running back, there is not many of those in the league. He is just as good a receiver as he is a running back. I think the wildcat formation showed just how valuable and versatile he really is.

Look at our offense in 2007. Granted we didn't win any games during the 7 game span Ronnie played in, but the offense was night and day. Ronnie was tearing things up and at the moment he went down, he was leading the league in total yards from scrimmage. He had basically 1,000 total yards in 6 and a half games. When he went down, the running game basically stalled, and the line all of a sudden was giving up more sacks. Why? Because there was not a dominating running back that could take over games and force defenses to focus on him to open up the passing game.

Nobody in their right mind would think he was going to rush for 1500 yards a year after tearing his ACL. He played at a much higher level then most thought, but it is usually the second year back when players who suffer that injury get back to their old ways.

He may not put up the huge numbers, but his versatility makes this offense so much better. There is no reason to look at replacing him this year. Running back is a position that does not need any tinkering. We have a Pro Bowler as a starter, a former Pro Bowler as a backup who had 659 yards rushing. Cobbs is a special player who can come in for certain situations and spice things up.

The running back position does not need to be addressed. Things are only going to get better. Ronnie will be two years removed from his surgery, Ricky will finally get to play two straight years and the interior of the offensive line will be improved with the addition of Grove and the returns of Smiley and Thomas.

If healthy, Ronnie will definitely be a 1200+ yard back this year.
