Could this be a reason Gus isnt getting pulled. I found it odd at the beginning of the season that Gus Frerotte was named an Offensive Captain. I knew he would revert to utter crap at some point in the season, and always wondered how Saban would be able to bench an Offensive Captain.. That would really deal a blow to the "leadership" position, no? Its only a title though, so I dont see how it should effect how poor play is being dealt with, but it may be a facotr.

The real reason he is still starting is simple. Hes not playing that bad.

Yes hes not very good, but he isnt really horrible either. He would be horrible if he were playing like AJ Feeley did at the end of last season. I cant watch the games and be 100 percent sure that Gus lost the game himself. I think people are giving him a really short leash since of his history of being a career backup/journeyman QB.

Id rather see Sage in there also, but hes not going to start until the season is lost.

Are you kidding me? Look at his career sucktitude! http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1070

Gus has cost us at least THREE games by pretty much himself! Like I have stated before, Feeley had a propensity for INTs for TDs, but he at least had the accuracy to come back from his self imposed debts.. Frerotte does not.. He is just a miserable, miserable QB.. Frerotte is the worst QB the Dolphins have had starting for any extended period of time since Marino left.

He keeps playing like that. He'll need kevlar.

Seriously, I don't see how being a Captain would matter. I still say that until we're officially out of the running to win the AFC East, you won't see a change. As soon as we're out of it (hopefully we're not.) You'll see Sage and Lemon, Parsely, and Oregano and whatever Organic ingredients we have at QB.

So you can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the sole reason for losing games? I cant.

I agree he sucks and Id rather see Sage, but I think we have definitely had worse play from other QBs besides Frerotte.

Think the rest of the team would vote him off the starting offense?

Survivor - the Dolphins edition?

I can place as much blame of Frerotte for losses as I could for Feeley and Fiedler.. Just look back at the games and the scores..

thanks for the laugh of the day....I know we all needed one....

Someone on another thread pulled up the stats for Ray Lucas and compared them to gus's stats, and Ray's stats were as good or better than Gus's in every catagory. That's enough for me, if he can't even outplay arguably the worst QB ever to put on a Fins uniform, he's got to go, and I don't mean just to the bench.

I'll probabaly get burned for saying this, but IMO feeley looked so bad the end of last year partially because of having no time to throw. it seemed to me that when he did have time he could be damn accurate unlike ferotte who seems 50/50 (if that) when he has no pressure. i would have liked to see feeley in with this better o-line to see what he could do, but that is neither here or there since it is no longer an issue.

yes, the recievers missed some catches, but the ones that they were wide open and ferotte had no pressure that he over/underthrew were unacceptable. you can't say "ferotte's not bad, the recievers should be able to jump higher or dive farther".

the thing that sux is that if everyone else would be playing great you would still have to worry about ferotte connecting with a pass. that combined with some of the inconsistancy of some of the other players is what's giving problems. seems it's rare that everyone is playing like they should at the same time rather than in shifts.

of course, im no analyst and i don't know as much about football as most people around here so i probabally just dont know what im talkin about...

They are not going to pull Gus, because then Linehan would look foolish that his favorite wasn't up to par. Then you got Saban who backs Linehan all the way, so he can't look foolish also. What if Sage played good, boy that would make all all of them look like idiots. Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Without the running game....has Frerotte played well enough to stay the starter? That's your question....and it leads to your only obvious answer. NO! Hell NO!!

I can't say how many times I read this....Feidler doesn't win games....the defense does...or appx the same thing for Feeley....well....sorry...but can anyone say now that they feel Frerotte wins games? Or does he lose them by throwing interceptions in the redzone....or over throwing every receiver regardless of their height? Heck...he must have the Dolphins record by underthrowing a pass...a 7 yd pass. Frerotte is qualified to be the Titantic's Captain....but never a Dolphins Captain!
