Apparently Parcells has this buyout option in his contact for this year if Wayne leaves, which is more than likely... If Parcells does leave when Wayne sells his majority stake of the team, does it really hurt us as much as some may think?

Sparano and Parcells have been coaching together every year since 2003 (less 2007), and all three have been together since 2005 when Ireland joined Parcells staff as national scout then getting promoted to vp of college scouting..

That being said, Sparano and Ireland already know how Parcells works and how to build a Parcells team, and how to coach a Parcells team. Parcells has laid his blueprint for the team Ireland and Sparano know how it works and how to carry it out. Sparano knows how to coach a Parcells type team and Ireland and Sparano both know how to attack the draft and free agency...

So in that, does it really hurt us as much as people think if Parcells does leave at the end of the season?

Not saying I want him to, but I dont think it hurts too much because Sparano and Ireland know how to be a Bill Parcells (I think).

I think it hurts in the sense that there's a good chance Henning may retire again if Parcells leaves, as well as we may lose some of the scouts he brings around with him.

Overall, not franchise crippling, but certainly not a positive development.

Love how all these franchises think they're going to lure Parcells from the dolphins and turn them into instant contenders like he has done here. It's not like he has another Sparano to plunder, or his groomed Ireland to advise. No, this was Parcells baby. This is exactly what he wanted and how he wanted to do it. I have no idea why Ross wouldn't be on his knees brown nosing Parcells to make him feel like Huizengas vision is a Ross vising for this franchise.

Then again, ross came on board very soon after Parcells was hired.. maybe he's fine with ross and all anyway. It's not like Wayne is selling everything... he's keeping 5% right?

Yeah but thats no controlling interest.. He wont have any say regarding team issues

It only hurts us badly if he take people with him. Unless he offers a head coaching job to one of the assistant coaches, he won't be able to touch the staff. Plus, with Ireland having the GM title, I don't think he could touch him. I worry about some of the scouts and other front office people.

Hopefully this is all moot though. Hopefully things get straightened out, and he returns as VP for the 09' season.

Yes, it will.

Coaches come along BP. If the Miami Dolphins have the bad luck to have a jerry jones/ al davis type of owner which will substitute the Genius with the stupid ex-kc chiefs GM, then this team will become a loosing contender for the next decades.

Let's put it this way, Parcells leaving wouldn't be a good thing. Don't underestimate the presence of Parcells merely strolling about the Davie compound.

If he did go, I have faith in Sparano and Ireland, but it certainly would be better for us if he didn't, and I don't think he will. Like the poster above said, who is he going to take with him? Who is his Sparano Jr. and Ireland Jr.?

Let's not forget also that the guy is nearing 70 years old and has absolutely nothing left to prove and likes South Florida. At some point the wanderlust has to fade. I also don't think Ross wants to start his tenure as the guy who let Parcells walk. It's not like cash is an issue to Ross.

I honestly don't think Parcells will leave, he's not coaching, he's in a very comfortable position that doesn't take away his whole day, and i think he wants to stick around and watch his investment grow and thrive more then just one year's worth

You're right about it hurts...

He is like a company...he has all levels of his guys. Some will be tied to contracts and some will not. Those that can leave, most likely would leave.

Winning has to happen on the field and off the field with the organization. Even the small job guys makes a difference and that is where most of the talent comes from in future years with the front office.

Ross just needs to give him a similar deal and let him keep running the show and Ross keep raking in the MONEY from CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

I don't think Parcells will leave until the job is done. I know we made the playoffs, but there is still much left to do. Also, right now this has got to be a really cushy job after making it to the playoffs...there is almost 0 pressure right now. He can sit back and look at draft picks and just wheel and deal and try to put together a flippin powerhouse...in other words he can put together a true legacy...a dynasty...

Yes. Losing Bill Parcells hurts the team. Sometimes the blatantly obvious answer is the right one.

If he does leave, we should go after Scott Pioli of the Patriots....I think he has probably made the best personnel moves of any VP/GM out there.,,,and word has it that Pioli might consider going to the Cleveland Browns....we should steal him away from the Cheatriots.
