I have a bad feeling that saban knows daunte's knee is shot, and without a quarterback next year we wouldn't be able to win and decided to run while the offer was still on the table.
I just have gotten the feeling ever since daunte went from being the back-up to the third string, to inactive and to ultimately IR, that the coaches know he may be done. He had a very significant injury, but if he wasn't able to play after 14 months, I have my doubts whether he ever will.
Could saban have known this and could this have somehow weighed into his decision to leave? We all knew that saban's success as a coach would come down to how culpepper played. Maybe saban knew that answer before the rest of us and bailed when he had the chance. I hope this isn't true but fear it may be.
