Since Gase kept Burke as D-coordinator and his scheme, how much does that reflect back on him as a head coach. Obviously he has nothing to do with the defense, but it was his decision.

Gase wanted to maintain the same defense scheme- one of the resasons Burke was promoted. Gase said from the beginning he wasn’t a big fan on changing systems often.

Gase CHOOSES to have nothing to do with the defense. The HC is responsible for EVERYTHING associated with the product on the field.

Rizzi = Great hire...no worries

Burke = Not so great hire...the defense is a concern.

I won't even go back to how the o-line had coke heads coaching them...Gase has to know things like that.

Wasn't there a rumor Gase wanted another DC, but Ross nixed it? No idea if that was true or not.

CK repoerted that yes, that he wnated Vic F, but yes we dont know if that’s true or not.

It sure seemed as though Burke was the planned successor when Vance was leaving, thats why Burke came in the first place.

The head coach has nothing to do with the defense? Am I reading that correctly?
Believe it, or not, you are.

That was the moment I was done with Gase. When he stood at the podium and declared he had zero input, or interest in that side of the ball.

Who the hell hires a HC that doesn't have a defensive philosophy of his own? Then hires an inexperienced, unproven DC?

Gase was set up for failure, and Ross, Tbum, etc were apparently too incompetent to see it.

Well, if that is the case, it had to be something other than salary. Ross has had no problem throwing multi-millions at underperforming players so I can't see him balking about throwing 1-2 mill at a coach.

First, Gase IS supposed to be in charge of the team, not just the offense
As far as Gase wanted a DC and Ross not wanting to pay for it, that's just not true.

Gase reminds me of an under performing sergeant I knew in the Army. This guy wanted the money that went along with being a sergeant but none of the responsibility of actually being a leader of men. When told that as a squad leader. he was expected to make sure his squad was awake and ready to go to formation, this guy was incredulous. What? Why? Or that prior to going out on maneuvers that he was responsible for inspecting his squad to ensure that they went to the field with the proper equipment. But why? SSG Klein, why? Gase only focusing on the offense is wrong on so many levels. He is totally responsible for everything about the team and that includes the defense. You don't see BB ignoring the offense and focusing on the defense or vice versa. If Gase does not fire Burke, than that would be the final straw.

So the rumor is part true part fiction...he walked away from the San Fran job because he wanted to keep Fangio on staff...he saw what Fangio did for that defense and the 49ers wanted Tomsula...Yes I think Gase wanted Fangio here, but they both followed Fox to Chicago...Chicago wouldn't let Fnagio leave and rightfully so...he has helped turn that defense around as well
