Gus Ferotte who I thought had the job won, had the support and we could concentrate on somthing else now has a crappy game and AJ feeley has a good one.

Gus and those two fumbles hurt him, so do the crapload the rest of the team had, but lets not talk about that. Best drive 52 yards ends in fumble.

Feeley = 16/20 longest drive 56 yards, ends in well of course fumble.:fire::fire::fire:

So I guess his fit he had the other day has made him determined to get his job back. Here is the question, why cant he do this when he has to. And why cant the recievers get their hands out of a body cavity and not fumble so much.

Feeley is also doing little more than dinking the ball around at this point. His completion percentage is high, but he's averaging slightly more than four yards per attempt at this point.

Considering that the Dolphins aren't gameplanning for these games, I doubt this game will have much impact on the quarterback competition. Gus has reportedly been routinely outplaying AJ in practice, and that's where most of the decision making will come from.

These games will only determine who the last 5-6 players on the roster will be. Nothing more.

I think Feely is finally starting to man up in the competition. he has to have relized he has fallin back and i think tonight he has crawled right back into the fold. and like i have been saying if the coaches feel like a tie i think they will go with feely

OK, so Saban all but says Gus will be the Week 1 starter. He'll be starting the next game.

When the next game comes around, Gus plays about as poorly as he can. Maybe he's resting, coasting, doing whatever because he thinks the job is definitely his.

Feeley comes in, and does about as well as he can. It looks like he steps up his game, doing his best to show he's the right man for the job. This game is telling, especially because we know that Pittsburgh's second-team defense is capable of beating an almost-playoff team (Buffalo, last year).

Oh, and as far as YPA goes, the guys who actually threw the ball today looked like this:

Feeley: 4.75 YPA
Frerotte: 4.83 YPA
Roethlisberger: 4.63 YPA
Batch: 5.00 YPA

So who's just "dinking?" Is it Feeley, or maybe everybody who steps on to the field?

i say no... yes Feeley did play well and didnt make some of the mistakes he has in the past but i still think that MOST of the mistakes were because of the WHOLE team not just Gus. Yes he made his mistakes as well... it was not a great game for him, but as i said in another post, i think Gus still played fairly solid, the receivers however had a pretty bad night (MCMICHAEL IS PARTICULAR!)

I dont think the controversy will ever go away, come one we had Dan the Man now we have we have well nothing....

Newsflash: 7/18 with two lost fumbles is not solid. The rest of the team may not have been up to speed today, but they didn't fumble the ball.

I didn't watch the game yet obviously, won't till Tuesday because I am in MD. But for God sake, now we have to read all the flip floppers go back to wanting Feeley be QB just because of his stats.

Feeley is what he is!! Gus is what he is. My money says when averaged out...Gus is going to be more effective than Feeley would be if you average his play out. This year is not a playoff or Super Bowl year folks. It is a growth year...and Feeley isn't our long term QB (nor is Gus and we know that, my point is there is no reason to start Feeley just for the fact of getting him more reps for the following year)

Yes they did. McMichael and Morris both had fumbles as well as the kick returners.

But even if we dumped our QB's and signed Couch I dont think it would make a difference....guys are droping balls and they all seem out of sink. I don't want to say "wait till next year" to sign Leinart or Jacobs but we have to hope that maybe Ronnie Brown and Ricky can carry it 80% of the time, and try to focus on this as our passing game is looking horrible.

I cant be certian but I believe Gus is under 50% completion for the pre-season. When averaged out that doesent equal more effective.

What I was referring to was Gus' two lost fumbles. I can't fault him for his receivers fumbling the ball. In the end, they (Feeley and Frerotte) got a similar number of attempts, with both having to deal with receiver fumbles.

both of his fumbles were not all his fault. The one was a missed assignment, the other was a bad snap.

He didn't play well, but people are making his performance to be much worse than it was
