hey guys do u htink this was a mere see what we can get for a 4th round pick, or do u think that billy p really wanted fasano and akin. if so does parcells realize the fact that we have too many needs to fill all in the draft or is this mearly done because it was good for us in the long term. any opinions on what this opens up for us, eg. us not drafting a ilb or te in the first 4 round? or has the strategy not changed. thanks

Yes, I also think this means we could have more deals with Dallas today.

He got value here. I don't think it changes the strategy from the 2nd and 3rd round, as I did not see any ILB or TE worthy of such a pick. Those complaining obviously don't know football. These are two young starting players in the NFL. Not some unknown from college. Great move and the beginning to a great weekend and onto a great turnaround over the next few years. Finally, real football guys who know what the hell is going on.

im some ways sure it does...im guessing they r not drafting a tight end. Already have fasno, ryan, pelle and martin ...likely not to see a 5th 1 drafted. ipersonally hope martin goes and pelle stays

If TE Brad Cottam is available in spot that the front office likes, they'll select him. Great size, and a good blocker. With the aquisition of Akin Ayodele, it may put less of an emphasis on drafting an ILB early, and allow the Dolphins to focus on another position of need.

It's not a good draft for TE. So, Fasano is as good or better than anyone we could draft. So, yes, I think it changes our strategy there. We won't take a TE.

As for the LB situation, it's still unclear. Taylor, Porter, Torbor, Ayodele, and Crowder are all being paid starter's salaries. If Taylor is traded, there isn't a clear weakside OLB among the others. Maybe it's Ayodele, as he was a real strong pass rusher in college but hasn't got that opportunity in the NFL.

thats a realy good point i didnt think about that, the fact that 5 starters on a team that plays 4. with jt gone, which he will be, do u think that takes groves and campell out of the equation and we try to play one of our own players at olb? we dont want to be paying 5 starters for 4 spots, good point. i guess all questions will be answered today

Yeah there were really only a couple of good TE's in this one and Fasano gives us what we need and better fit.

I'm pretty sure you can cross TE off your list.
As for Ayodele... it depends where Tuna is planning to put him... If he's going to be an ILB, we should be set there now, and maybe we target Groves.... if he's going to be OLB, then we may still look at Connor.

guys its plain and simple.....i posted this yeaterday(late),but ill say it again....Parcells is looking for the playoffs NOW,but he is still building for tyhe future....thats why i said,in my other post, that since were missing two rounds(4 and 5),he is only drafting IMPACT PLAYERS in rounds 2 and 3....so look for him to draft a guard(i like Chilo Rachal in the 3rd),and a DB(if Kenny Philips is there at 32,dont you think for a second Parcells wont take a look at the best safety in the raft) and a possibility of a WR(i think, realistically, its either Hardy or Sweed)...

if this goes as plans,guys....the playoffs is VERY possible

If we come out of Round 3 with Hardy/Groves, best CB avail, and an OG like Greco, I'll be thrilled.

Even more thrilled if JT is traded and we get a 2nd plus a 4th or 5th

I think you can cross TE off the list because of Fasano. But IMO we are going to need a LB and WR.

I predit we will try and get groves and either Sweed/Kelly/Hardy. BP doesn't like to lose if you gys haven't noticed, he has no tolerence for it, which is good he can light a fire under our players butts.

:rolleyes2: . . . come on . . . we could draft Groves, Phillips, Sweed and everybody else . . . but it doesn't mean ANYTHING if John Beck is not the guy and Ronnie Brown is not healthy. Don't mention playoffs w/o those 2 realizations . . . because those are the 2 biggest things that will give us a shot at being a competitive team THIS season. Realistically, I just want us to become more competitive this season . . . make sure we KNOW we have our guy at QB . . . resign Ronnie long term if he stays healthy . . . have a big draft next year to fine tune some areas . . . and make the playoffs in 2009. That is more realistic.

Sure we can turn around and possibly make the playoffs this season . . . .anything is possible . . . but realize we still don't have our answer at QB . . . we have potential solutions . . . but no definitive answer . . . and until we get that . . . we will not be a playoff team anytime soon.

You gotta remember, in 2002 . . . we had a SUPER Bowl team . . . seriously . . . and Fiedler was decent . . . but we needed a better QB . . . we didn't even make the playoffs that year . . . and look who we had on that team . . . that team mops the floor with this one . . . . we are in a transition phase . . . don't expect playoffs so soon, just let it happen.

Also remember we are in the AFC . . . Pats, Colts, Jags, Chargers . . . and don't forget about the Steelers, Browns, Titans and even the Texans . . . we are not better than those 8 teams . . . I'm hoping Tuna can get the right guys by the time the 2009 season starts and put us atleast on the level of those last 4 teams.

i dont know about that....the first year Romo stepped on the field,he had a good year, and he was undrafted....with good talent around Beck,I wouldnt be surprised if Beck threw over 3,000 yards and more than 15 TDs....
