Wow, they gave up a first, two thirds, and swapped 6th rounders in the Chief's favor for the privilege of paying Jared Allen $73M.

I swear that guy must be afraid to make draft picks.

Call it the NY Giants effect, pass rushers are at a premium

Nah, I call it the Rick Spielman effect, getting fleeced in trades by every team in the league.

And Jared said, "I'll drink to that!"

I'm not putting him in Pacman's shoes, but damn they've got nads of steel to pull a move like that. It's kind of hard to imagine him outperforming that investment in picks and cash, so if they don't win the SB, then KC hosed 'em.

Allen is only 26 years old and led the league in sacks. I think the Vikes gave good compensation. The contract was a little much on top of it but whatever. This is what it takes to pull off a trade for elite players in their prime. Look at the offer the Redskins gave for Chad Johnson. A first round pick and a 3rd that can improve to another first. On top of that you know they'd have to break the bank to sign him as well. Its the nature of the business, you can't put it all off on Speilman. At least he addressed their biggest need with a premiere player.

As if his tenure here wasn't enough to want him as far away as possible (though it's nice to see he's still in the league-- gives the Dolphins the opportunity to fleece him for a change).

the trade is not that bad! they have TWO MAMMOTH BEAST CLOGGING THE MIDDLE IN DEMANDING DOUBLE TEAMS> THIS WILL LEAVE ALLEN IN 1-1 situations all day. if vikings QB pan out this team will be great.

Agreed he's a great player, but this is the kind of package (with adjustments for inflation) that you would have offered JT six or seven years ago. Not a guy with two DUIs in the last year. It doesn't make it a bad deal, but it does increase the risk significantly.

I don't know, it was a good trade for both teams. KC gets a load of draft picks to re-build. Minny gets the NFL's premier dual threat DE, the league's leading sacker and drunk driver...move over Leonard Little, the NFC just got a lot more dangerous.

LMAO.. another 'character guy' they've been preaching about up there in Minny..LOL

Hardy dee har har!!!

I heard them talking about the deal on the radio today and I said to myself (forgetting for a minute that Spielman was with Vikes)..."Wha ??.....What kind of a hand job makes that deal????" and then sure enough....It's SPIELMAN !!!! HE STRIKES AGAIN !!!

Thank GOD we got rid of this moron

Say what you want about how good Allen is... I mean, I know he's good and all, and they needed a DE, but now Minnesota has exactly ONE pick in the first 3 rounds.

Good God, I'm glad that's not us. We've given away WAY too many picks over the past many years, and that's why we are where we are now. Minnesota could've easily used one of those picks on another position of need, such as... oh, I don't know... Quarterback... (sorry, I'm not sold on T. Jackson)
