I thought this was a pretty cool story. DT A.J. Francis applied for a second job as an Uber driver!

It's worth noting that Francis was one of the lowest-paid players on the Dolphins' roster last season. He made a base salary of $323,600 in 2014 and spent most of last year on injured reserve. That's a very good living for most people, but it's not large by NFL standards. By comparison, Francis' teammate and fellow defensive tackleNdamukong Suh recently received a signing bonus reportedly worth $25.5 million.
Francis would immediately become one of the most popular Uber drivers in South Florida if he obtains this second job. I'm sure many customers and Dolphins fans would have plenty of football questions to ask the defensive tackle during their commutes.

I am sure a lot of us would kill to make 325k a year, but you have to admire his motivation. Hopefully it will translates to developing on the field next to Suh.

I like this kid. I saw a quote from him where he said he was going to try to learn everything he can from Suh and follow his workout plan. I'll look for it. Lets hope he does.

Sweet. Now I have a DD after the Dolphin home games.

Pardon my ignorance but... Whats a Uber driver?
Edit: Pardon my lack of focus... Completely missed the link... Actually thought Uber was some sort of vehicule...lol

Uber is an app-based transportation company that is taking over the taxi cab industry. You download the app, request an Uber like a taxi, and most of the time, its a fraction of the cost. I use the service often and its about 35% of cab fare for me. no tip necessary.

Cant blame the guy for wanting to make more money... what he makes a year would make someone else (like myself) life change ALOT but that's chump change in the NFL for what hes making. Go get that scratch bro......

Xavier Center Matt Stainbrook was an Uber driver his whole senior year to help pay for college, bills, and to relax and get his mind off things, sports.... met a lot of people, great stories and conversations... he loved it!!!

He still goes to college too.

Guy has a lot of interest outside of football. Which is good, probably won't have to worry about him spending his time in strip clubs popping Molly and getting into fights.

Judging by his twitter account, he is a wrestling fanatic. Guy does an in-depth WWE commentary every week. Not my cup of tea, but god bless em.

In reality its probably good that he is looking at other jobs, he is a bubble type player that could easily not be playing in NFL.
I would think there would be other jobs that would be better choices but whatever makes him happy.

You have a chance to be a player in the NFL and instead of dedicating yourself to this brief, amazing time of your life you want to be cruising for fares competing with a bunch of other uber drivers. You have your whole life to be cabbie, only one shot at the NFL, where even a backup makes far, far more than any other job he'll have in his life. ****ing moron.

Aside from the early on mannings of the world in the NFL, not every player eats, sleeps, dreams football. They are human beings, if going to get on him for doing that, why not get on Suh for his off field business ventures, and so on. If the guy shows up to camps, practice, etc... and stays out of news legal wise, what he does off the field is his right.

Fringe players need to work harder. As the tweet frames it he's not doing it because he likes to keep busy or enjoys it. He's doing it for the pocket money which comes with being an uber driver. That's insane. Just a ridiculous waste of time when his time can be invested to such a greater return. I'm getting on him for being dumb.

Oh not saying you are in the wrong, just well let me phrase it this way, would you rather him being driver in down time(while yes could be getting up to par for upcoming season) to sort of get away from the game and earn some extra money or would you rather him pull a Ricky and run off to smoke and yoga retire lol. I rather see players putting in 100% effort year round to their craft but they are humans and to each their own. Perhaps now having Suh in camps and practices will make him see he has to fight even harder for his spot
