Hey everyone, i was just wondering if anyone could help me out. I cheer for the winnipeg blue bombers in the Canadian football league and we just signed a qb from colorado state by the name of justin holland. Hes got a cannon for an arm and was at a dolphin camp but didnt stick, now hes in winnipeg. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about him, or why he got cut or have an opinion of the guy. Thanks.

Easy, we thought Culpepper was good to go, we had Joey Harrington as a veteran backup and Cleo Lemon as the experimental third string QB. In other words, Holland was training camp fodder.

Yep, he was just a camp arm. Real strong thrower though.

I really hope he does not play that well. I am kind of hoping the Hamilton Ticats will rebound this year.

You posted in the right forum. I went to school at Colorado State when he was QB there. He does have a cannon for an arm, is accurate, especially on the deep throws. He threw to a receiver named David Anderson who was on the Texans last year and together in 2004 I believe David was one of the most prolific receivers in the NCAA. David is about 5'9" I believe and that is why he never drew much attention, but Gary Kubiak's son, Clint Kubiak plays for CSU and so they picked him up. But as far as Holland's drawbacks, he was never a very mobile QB and had periods where he forced throws and over estimated how good his arm was. He should really be a good player there. I'd be curious as to how he does, he was the Colorado Player of the year here and I believe set state passing records.

thanks guys. Yeah i remember watching lemon and thought he has some potential, and showed good mobility. So just brought in for a look, and didnt overly impress it sounds like....did he have trouble reading a D or just average all round.

Was he???? Or was this just another of Saban's huge blunders, like the Joe Berger disaster.

I think we should wait and see what he does in Winnipeg before we judge.

Go Blue Bombers!!!!

I know a decent amount of knowledge about Justin Holland. He was a very good QB for the CSU Rams, and I believe he broke the records of Brad Van Pelt, who I believe is now the #2 QB for the Broncos, or perhaps on the practice squad for them. He does have a very good arm....he set pretty much every high school passing record here in Colorado. I think he would have a shot at the NFL if given a chance, but I think a few years in the CFL will do him good.

Brad Van Pelt is in Houston. The Broncos cut him last year and because he's been activated for more than 16 games, he's not eligible for the practice squad or NFL Europe.
