Great I hope it's not another Manny situation where all the sudden Dan thinks maybe now it's time to retire after all.

That would be a huge blow...I feel comfortable with Jeff but Big Daddywas a big signing....

just hit the easy button and wait and see.

Glad to see alot of guards and tackles being worked out. Anything is better than Bennie.

My thoughts exactly, I knew it wasn't a good signing at all.

well, it could be be a blessing in disguise!

FRED EVANS should be in the game, not on the
inactive list. this team just refuses to develope
talent!!

i love big daddy, like the signing. but fred played his
arse off this pre season and i think if he is in the rotation,
he could push for d-roy!

no, we have to have travis minor active. not a pro bowl
looking dt.

but, then again, it will probably be jeff ****** once again
in the rotation. can't trade him so play him.

Actually...Titans and Rams have both expressed interest in Zogonia "sp". Why Saban doesn't pull the trigger, I don't know. Anything is better than letting him set inactive every week. Maybe he is just waiting until Sammy is ready to be activated before pulling the trigger.

Are you saying they should be compared? If so I totally disagree! You are talking about a 12 yr vet that has missed how many games over his career? He comes to play game after game - year after year. No track record of missing games or going mental. He is at the point in his career he wants to rest and be fresh - is that right - no IMO but I'm sure Saban and Co. knew what they were signing up for. And who knows, maybe there is a major personal issue with his family going on. BUT, for Manny - no excuses - he is lazy now and was in college. He hasn't done a thing in the pros and I'm glad to see Saban holding fort and making him waste another year w/o pay hopefully.

I'm not so sure about all these new offensive linemen being worked out. Is this really the time to be doing this? Wasn't that what the preseason was for? Feels like a really shoddy attempt at a quick fix that should have been resolved loooong before week 2..... Anybody got any thoughts on that?

It's personal allright!!

His fat as### don't let him out of his bed, he is a vet that think that he don't have to work hard anymore. Hope he never come back, he is a bad influence. GO DOLPHINS!! :dolphins:

 uhhhhh...WTF?

Here is what I could find-

Will Whitticker
6'5" 338, 2nd year player drafted r7 2005.
Started 14 games in 2005 for Green Bay

POSITIVES: Explosive interior blocker with excellent size. Quick off the snap, gets movement from run blocks or anchors in pass protection. Nasty, looks to hit opponents, yet moves well for a big man. Can adjust and blocks with good lean. Jolts defenders at the point of attack.
NEGATIVES: Haphazard in his movements and does not play with great balance. Average awareness and slow reacting to defenders. moves or recognizing blitzes thrown by opponents. Tore a medial-collateral ligament in his left knee during January.s Las Vegas Classic.
ANALYSIS: A big-bodied lineman with the strength to match, Whitticker stands out on film and can be a dominant blocker. Though the consistency and effort are not always there, showed strides of improvement as a senior and has a place at the next level if he keeps working hard. Recent knee injury will keep him out of the draft.

Sounds like a nice developmental player who got cut loose as much for not fitting in with the Packers zone-run blocking style system as anything else.

Pete McMahon-
6'8" 329 2nd year player r6 2005
POSITIVES: Mammoth lineman with outstanding size. Intelligent blocker who effectively uses angles as well as body positioning to wall opponents from the action. Sets with a wide base, strong and moves defenders off the line. Nasty and looks to take opponents out. Easily anchors in pass protection, displays the ability to slide in space and works until the whistle blows. Extends his hands and fights to keep defenders away.
NEGATIVES: Lacks adjustment and has difficulty with nimble opponents. Not quick or explosive into blocks, and has difficulty in motion.
ANALYSIS: A hard-working lineman with a good feel for the position, McMahon made major strides the past two seasons. May not be able to play tackle in all systems, yet possesses the size and intangibles that give him starting possibilities in the future.
PROJECTION: Early Sixth Round

Is a massive ROT prospect with very good overall size and wingspan. Has long arms. Has good lower body strength and adequate upper body strength. Shows the ability to anchor vs. the bull rush when he plays with leverage. He struggles in space as a run blocker and will look stiff and off-balance at times versus athletic edge rushers that can get him upfield, force him to over-extend, and then change directions quickly to double-move him back inside. He needs to show more consistent leverage in pass pro and as a run blocker..

Randy Hand
6'5" 307, rookie
POSITIVES: Effective pass protector who blocks with solid fundamentals. Sets with a wide base, stay square and anchors at the point. Correctly places hands into defenders and controls them once engaged in a block. Makes effective use of angles and rides rushers from the action.
NEGATIVES: Lacks footwork, struggles sliding out to protect the edge and loses balance over a large area. Marginal run-blocker who rarely finishes.
ANALYSIS: Productive on the college level, Hand has been a durable and dependable blocker at Florida. Works hard and offers potential as an inexpensive backup.
PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
